GolfTalk Live Begins Season
of Local Live Remote Broadcasts

Philadelphia, PA (April 15, 2008) The award-winning GolfTalk Live radio show, which broadcasts weekly on WNTP 990-AM, will begin its season of live remote broadcasts from the Greater Philadelphia area on Saturday April 19. The majority of weekly live remote broadcasts will come from a different course in the Philadelphia area through the end of October.

Many of the live remote broadcasts will be tied in with special events in the area. The first of these will be this Saturday’s live remote broadcast from Spring-Ford Country Club in Royersford, PA. The broadcast is in advance of the new DeGisi Pro-Am Scratch Invitational, which takes place on Friday, April 25. The event will combine top area professionals with elite amateur players and is a tribute to longtime Spring-Ford head professional Tony DeGisi.

Other special live remote broadcasts throughout the season include the Major Manufacturer Demo Day from White Clay Creek GC on May 17, the International Network of Golf Spring Conference from the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel on May 31, the McDonald’s LPGA Championship from Bulle Rock on June 7, the Philadelphia Amateur Championship from Whitemarsh Valley Country Club on June 14, the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the PGA Championship at Llanerch Country Club on July 26 and the Montgomery County Amateur Championship from Raven’s Claw GC on August 2.

“The live remote broadcasts from different local clubs each week are the backbone of our program,” said GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora. “Their popularity is what sparked us to do live remotes from resort locations such as Doral, The Ritz Carlton Naples, Nova Scotia and Myrtle Beach, as well as our winter Breakfast with the Golfers series at Ray’s Diner and Malt Shop. We enjoy taking our show out to the golfers.”

GolfTalk Live, which was named the No. 1 golf radio show in America by the ING, airs weekly from 7 - 8 a.m. on WNTP 990-AM, Philadelphia’s 50,000 watt news talk station. Tony Leodora’s popular GolfTalk Minute commentaries air 20 times each week on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. (April 3, 2008) – The award-winning GolfTalk Live radio show, hosted by Tony Leodora, begins a special six-month partnership with Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday and all of the Myrtle Beach area resorts in April.

The partnership will feature a number of live remote broadcasts from resorts along Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand, as well as reviews of some of the newest and recently renovated golf courses.

“There is so much that is new about the Myrtle Beach area,” said Bill Golden, president of Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday. “We welcomed the opportunity to get the message out to the Greater Philadelphia region, which is one of our prime markets.”

Special events that will be featured at live remote broadcasts during the six-month partnership include the Golf Writers Invitational at Sea Trail Resort (live remote on April 5), the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Bash at Barefoot Resort (live remote on April 12), the Father-Son Team Championship (live remote on June 21) and the PGA Tour Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship (live remote on August 30).

GolfTalk Live has a lively format and show host Tony Leodora makes the show even livelier,” said Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday director of marketing Steve Mays. “That fits perfectly with the message we are trying to get out about Myrtle Beach. We look forward to an exciting run of guests and interviews.”

GolfTalk Live, which airs 52 weeks a year from 7 to 8 a.m. each Saturday on WNTP 990-AM and on www.wntp.com, is an interview-driven golf show that has grabbed national attention. At the PGA Merchandise Show in January, GolfTalk Live was voted America’s Best Golf Radio Show by the prestigious International Network of Golf.

GolfTalk Live Radio Show begins Third Year on WNTP 990-AM

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. (March 3, 2008) – The award-winning GolfTalk Live radio show, hosted by Tony Leodora, has begun its third year on the air.

Now it begins its third year with a promise to continue growing the show, as it has the last two years, and bringing listeners throughout the Delaware Valley the best in golf coverage, golf entertainment and golf lifestyle.

“The show model has evolved over the last two years into a reflection of the lifestyle and interests of avid golfers, while supplying enough general entertainment and information to keep even the casual golf fan interested,” explained Leodora, who also serves the golf world as editor of GolfStyles Philadelphia magazine and is a regular guest panelist on the Inside Golf television show. “We are still polishing and improving our product and promise an even better show throughout this third year.”

While the show primarily is broadcast from different locations around the Greater Philadelphia area, a few more exotic sites are on tap for the new year. Based on successful reaction to travels in the past year to golf hotbeds such as Doral, Reynolds Plantation and the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, GolfTalk Live will be on the road again in upcoming months.

The first two months of the new year reflect the travel mode. GolfTalk Live will visit locations such as Phillies spring training in Clearwater, a return to the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, the Atlantic-10 Championship in Atlantic City, the Masters, Sunset Beach in North Carolina and Myrtle Beach for the annual Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Bash.

Of course, GolfTalk Live also will broadcast from the Philadelphia area’s favorite golf courses and golf events throughout the season. Look for the local schedule to start with a visit to Spring-Ford CC on Saturday, April 19 in preparation for the club’s Invitational Pro-Am and salute to retiring head professional Tony DeGisi. Other major events on the schedule include the Philadelphia Amateur Championship at Whitemarsh Valley CC, the 50th anniversary of the 1958 PGA Championship at Llanerch CC, the opening round of the Montgomery County Amateur Championship from Raven’s Claw GC and a number of special events from Atlantic City.

Throughout most of the winter months, GolfTalk Live holds “Breakfast with the Golfers,” a live broadcast from Ray’s Diner and Malt Shop on Germantown Pike in East Norriton. The large, 1950s-style diner is the perfect cold-weather site for golfers who insist on talking about the game when they are unable to play it.

In addition to the on-air changes this year, GolfTalk Live will be announcing its own official Director of Instruction, as well as expanding the popular Equipment Corner from Golfdom in King of Prussia, to include interviews with other manufacturers and golf companies in an attempt to keep golfers on the cutting edge of technology.

Also, a dedicated website, www.golftalklive.net is under construction to supplement the information available on GolfTalk Live and allow the listeners to listen to the show at any time during the week.

Finally, the extremely popular GolfTalk Minute commentary has been expanded to air 20 times a week, during prime time, on WNTP 990-AM. These lively commentaries by show host Leodora air on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They also will be archived so they can be heard on www.golftalklive.net.

“This partnership has been a very successful one for our radio station,” said Russ Whitnah, general manager of WNTP. “GolfTalk Live brings the best in local programming to our station. Tony’s success, both locally and nationally, is good for the game of golf, good for Philadelphia and good for our station. We look forward to a long relationship.”

GolfStyles Live Receives ING Award as Best Golf Radio Show in America

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. (January 22, 2008) – In only its second year on the air, the GolfStyles Live radio show captured the grand prize at the annual Media Awards presentation, hosted by the International Network of Golf at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.

GolfStyles Live received the award for Best Golf Radio Show, in judging of entries for the year 2007. The award was presented by Todd Lewis of the Golf Channel. One year ago, the inaugural year for GolfStyles Live, the show received an Outstanding Achievement Award, signifying a second place finish in the same category.

“Two years on the air and two awards, now including the grand prize, that’s as good as it gets,” said Tony Leodora, creator and host of the hour-long, interview-style show. “We have assembled a terrific team that makes every show an action-packed hour of golf news, entertainment and golf lifestyle.”

The show airs 52 weeks a year on Philadelphia’s WNTP 990-AM, the four-year-old 50,000-watt station that is the fastest growing station in the Greater Philadelphia market. Air time is 7 to 8 a.m. every Saturday, with the show coming from an assortment of live remote locations. It can also be heard via the internet by going to www.wntp.com and pushing the “Listen Live” button.

“Tony has taken his interview-style GolfStyles Live show to the top and it’s no wonder, remarked Russ Whitnah, general manager of WNTP. “If you listen, you already know that Tony is as connected as it gets. His interviews with the top people in the world of golf and his informed opinions make GolfStyles Live a blast to listen to. The show has a broad range of appeal and is don’t-miss listening for anyone with even a remote interest in the world of golf.”

Comments from the judges were released along with the announcement of the award. Among the most interesting comments was one that explained the first place vote by saying, “The features on the show were excellent and the host was very, very, very entertaining.”

Regular features on the show include the Traveling Golfer with Jim Phillips, the Superintendent’s Corner, and the Equipment corner with Golfdom fitting expert Jim Yenser.

For the past 16 years, Leodora has been an award-winning writer and, now, broadcaster specifically in the golf world. Before that he spent 15 years as an award-winning sports columnist for a newspaper in the Philadelphia market. He is a former president of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association and a longtime member of the Golf Writers Association of America and the International Network of Golf, where he now serves on the Executive Committee.
