GolfTalk Live Events
Upcoming Schedule, Remotes and Events
This Week: GolfTalk Live Saturday May 11, 2013 from Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Absecon, New Jersey
Show Airs on Saturday May 11th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
The women are coming back to the Jersey Shore.
No, this is not all about the beauties on the beaches - although that is never a bad topic of discussion. Instead it is about the LPGA returning for another year of competition in the ShopRite LPGA Classic at Seaview - beginning May 31. Media Day, designed to promote that event, was held at Seaview on Monday and it got the ball rolling for this Saturday's radio show - also from Seaview.
Stacy Lewis, defending ShopRite LPGA Classic champion and No. 2 women's golfer in the world, visited the Jersey Shore and did an interesting interview with GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora. In it, she explained her affinity for the Jersey Shore ... and why she stepped up big to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Brian Rashley, head professional at Seaview, will be with us and serve as co-host. He will shine some light on why Seaview's Bay Course is in the best condition in years - even during the early spring - and why the hotel - under the leadership of Dolce Hotels management - is operating better than ever.
In the Equipment Corner we have an interesting talk with club-fitter Levy Moua. Based at Fox Chase GC in Lancaster County, Moua is quickly developing a reputation for his expertise - especially in the niche area of putter fitting. His views on this subject take on added meaning as the best women and men golfers in the world prepare to test the tricky greens of Seaview's Bay course and the amazingly fast greens of a U.S. Open setup at Merion.
Finally, more thoughts of the Jersey Shore as Mike Charlton of GolfAC.com stops by to tell us how to get the most out of a golf vacation to the Greater Atlantic City area.
And don't forget to visit our sister site - www.travelinggolfervideo.com - to watch the Traveling Golfer show-providing a preview of what golfers can expect at the new Heritage Creek GC. As they say, "Play 9 or play 18 - you choose your golf experience."

Past Event Highlights...
GolfTalk Live Party on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Heritage Creek GC in Jamison, Pennsylvania. Show aired on Saturday May 4th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
It is a celebration of the rarest kind in today's golf world - the celebration of the opening of a new golf course. Only 12 golf courses opened in the entire United States last year (compared to 154 golf course closings). Heritage Creek GC, the new Kelly Blake Moran design in Jamison, Pennsylvania is definitely a reason for celebration.
Situated on the beautiful rolling hills of Bucks County and bisected by the picturesque Little Neshaminy Creek, the course is a welcome addition to the daily fee golf scene in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Moran, the architect, and course superintendent Ryan Woodard will be with us to explain how this new course came into existence. Also Steve McKenna, president of Mignatti Builders, will be along to tell about the community that is growing up around the golf course.
In addition, with the NFL Draft still fresh in our memory, we talk to former Pro Bowl wide receiver Irving Fryar. The football player-turned-pastor is now running a celebrity tournament at Old York CC in Chesterfield, NJ to raise money for two charities.
This past Monday was Media Day for the upcoming U.S. Open at Merion. The Who's Who of the golf world visited the Ardmore site - and one of them was the USGA's Mike Davis. He is in charge of course setup and gave some very interesting insights into what we will see at Merion.
Finally, the warm breezes of this week bring thoughts of the Jersey Shore and Chris Martin of AC Golf Vacations will be on board to tell us how to get the most out of a golf vacation to the Greater Atlantic City area.
And don't forget to visit our sister site - www.travelinggolfervideo.com - to watch the Traveling Golfer show-providing a preview of what golfers can expect at the new Heritage Creek GC. As they say, "Play 9 or play 18 - you choose your golf experience."
Special GolfTalk Live Party on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horsham Family Golf in Horsham, Pennsylvania. Show Aired on Saturday April 27th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
Finally, the warm breezes have come to the Delaware Valley and golf is in the air ... everywhere ... but no place more than Horsham Family Golf on Route 611 in Horsham (across from the old Willow Grove Naval Air Station).
Golfers everywhere are trying to fine-tune their games for the upcoming season. The practice bays on the Horsham Family Golf driving range have been busy all day ... and into the night. GolfTalk Live will visit with PGA professional Rick Flagler to talk about programs to prepare for the new season.
Also, Rick will lead us into the Equipment Corner - with a discussion about how to fine-tune your equipment for the upcoming year. He will talk about the benefits of everything from getting clubs re-gripped to custom fitting.
And, speaking about getting ready for the upcoming season, a company called TGA Premier Junior Golf is getting golfers ready ... and at a very early age. For those interested in getting intensive training for those very young golfers, Joshua Jacobs will explain how his company is making quite a mark across the country.
Finally, in our monthly Superintendent's Corner, we have a very interesting interview with Arron McCurdy, the head superintendent on Merion's East Course - site of this year's U.S. Open. He gives an inside look into the preparation that has been taking place for a couple of years for this event.
And don't forget to visit our sister site - www.travelinggolfervideo.com - to watch the Traveling Golfer show from The Plantation on Crystal River in Florida. It is the ultimate golf and family vacation spot.
Special GolfTalk Live Party on Friday, April 19, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wildwood Country Club in Wildwood, New Jersey. Show aired on Saturday April 20th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
The warm breezes that finally came to the Delaware Valley this week probably started a lot of people thinking about summer - just in time for our first remote broadcast of the year ... from Wildwood Country Club.
The private club that has roots going back to 1916 is ramping up for the new season ... with a lot of new ideas. They have even joined the Greater Atlantic City Golf Association in an effort to co-promote the region as a golf destination.
Head professional Fred Riedel will be with us as co-host. Vice-president Bob Noel will be on board to talk about some of the new developments at the club.
In one of the most relevant interviews ever on GolfTalk Live, we will talk with Haverford Township police chief Carmen Pettine, who is overseeing the entire security operation for the upcoming U.S. Open at Merion GC. In light of the recent terrorist attack at another sporting event, the Boston Marathon, the pressure to ensure the safety of players and patrons is even greater. Pettine will explain the mammoth security operation that is being put in place.
Finally, people can't stop talking about the recent Masters - a Masters that drew record television ratings. For a recap, we will have Daily News golf writer Mike Kern back with us.
Saturday April 13th from The Dye Course Clubhouse at Barefoot Resort for the start of Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Weekend. Show Aired on Saturday April 13th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
For the sixth year in a row, GolfTalk Live will be kicking off the festive weekend of activity for the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am Tournament. This event is so big, it takes two days of warmup to prepare for the main event on Monday.
Barefoort Resort general manager Dave Genevro will be in his usual position as co-host for the show. Not only will he tell us about what is new at the four great courses at Barefoot - the Davis Love, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman and Pete Dye courses - but he will bring us up to speed on all of the celebrities and all of the activities that lead up to Monday's tournament and Monday night's concert by Hootie and the Blowfish.
Turning our attention to that "other tournament" taking place this weekend, we will have some of the most interesting coverage and analysis of the event.
We will talk to the one person who is entrusted with the annual renovation or tweaking of Augusta National - world renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. He makes an annual visit to the Masters, then returns home on Friday night so he can watch the weekend action on television.
Someone who is not allowed to return home for the weekend is Daily News golf writer Mike Kern. He has been providing daily coverage of the Masters and, as usual on Saturday morning each year, he will provide his expert analysis.
Saturday April 6th - a special Myrtle Beach GolfTalk Live Party recorded during Happy Hour at Greg Norman's Restaurant in Barefoot Landing on Friday, April 5. Show aired on Saturday April 6th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
GolfTalk Live has joined what seems to be a significant portion of the Philadelphia area golf population by traveling south to Myrtle Beach for its next two shows.
The first is another Happy Hour rendition, from one of the best Happy Hour spots along the Grand Strand - Greg Norman's Australian Grille. General manager Scott Grau will join us as co-host for the show.
Certainly there will be a lot of discussion about the upcoming Masters Week but, in Myrtle Beach, that also means the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Pro-Am is approaching. Jeff Diehl, head golf professional at the Dye Course at Barefoot Resort - where Hootie and the Boys will be playing next Monday - joins the show. He will give us an inside look at all of the preparations.
Another big event in the Myrtle Beach area is the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship, celebrating its 30th anniversary in August. Partnering with the tournament is our friends at Heritage Creek GC in Bucks County. They are running two separate contests that will pay the fee and send a lucky golfer from each to play in the 30th World Am. Heritage Creek superintendent Ryan Woodard will be on board to explain how you can win the free trip to Myrtle Beach.
Finally, the "try it before you buy it" plan comes to the golf industry. In the Equipment Corner we will find out about a company - GolfRe-defined.com - that allows members to try any one of hundreds of drivers in stock. If you like it, you can buy it. If you don't, you can send it back.
GolfTalk Live, Saturday March 30th a very special Evening with Fred Shoemaker, recorded at Blue Bell CC on Wednesday, March 27th. Show Aired on Saturday, March 30th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
Earlier in the week we recorded a very special show at Blue Bell CC with Fred Shoemaker, one of the leading - and most unique - golf instructors in the country.
The event was billed as "An Evening with Fred Shoemaker" and it drew a large crowd of both Blue Bell CC members and guests. It also announced the founding of the FredShoemakerGolfAcademy at Blue Bell CC.
Shoemaker, based in California, has quickly attained guru status across the country with his unique style of teaching. His students learn a new way of connecting the mind and the body in order to produce a free, fluid and productive golf swing.
Blue Bell GM Bill Beisel sits in as co-host and explains how the new golf academy will be implemented at the club.
George McNamara, Shoemaker's most active disciple in the Mid-Atlantic Region and head professional at Brandywine GC, talks about the spread of the new style of golf thinking and practicing.
Also, Beisel and Norristown Times Herald editor Stan Huskey join Leodora in a quick recap of the controversy surrounding the new Nike ad featuring a very cocky Tiger Woods.
Finally, in our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we have an interesting discussion with Jeff Monday, who is very busy preparing for the 30th anniversary of the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship in Myrtle Beach, during the last week of August.
GolfTalk Live, Saturday, March 23 from Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Show Aired on Saturday, March 23rd from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey.
Spring is finally here ... but, before we really get involved in the outdoor season, it is time to officially wind up the indoor season.
After a few months of better-ball-of-partners play indoors at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern, it is time for the Tournament of Champions. All who finished in the money during the regular season qualify to come back for the grand finale, where they will be playing for exceptional prizes.
Play-a-Round Golf owner Steve Graves will be behind the microphone as co-host and discuss how the indoor season went.
All of this happens immediately after an action-packed show that brings back some interesting information from our trip to Phillies Spring Training in Clearwater ... plus some good local interviews.
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel gave a very interesting comparison between driving the golf ball and hitting a baseball. He talks technique, mechanics and the mental side of making consistent solid contact.
With the pages of the calendar moving us closer to the magical week of the U.S. Open at Merion, GolfTalk Live continues to give as many advance looks as possible. This week's advance look comes through the eyes of one of the most accomplished golf artists, Linda Hartough. She painted the official painting for the U.S. Open at Merion - capturing the magic of Merion's 16th hole. She also has just produced Green Glory, a coffee table book depicting all of the courses that have hosted a Major.
In our monthly Superintendent's Corner we will again tackle one of the issues behind the job of keeping our golf courses green.
Finally, in our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we have an interesting discussion with Chris Miller, director of public relations and promotions for the national chain of golf stores - Golfsmith. The Myrtle Beach area is getting the newest of the Golfsmith stores that specialize in golf equipment and also partner with GolfTech for golf instruction. It will open in May and is located at the corner of Route 17 and Route 501 in the heart of Myrtle Beach.
GolfTalk Live, Saturday March 16th recorded from The Plantation Golf Resort and Spa in Crystal River, Florida during Happy Hour on Friday, March 15th as part of spring training baseball preview. Show Aired on Saturday, March 16th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
There is nothing like a little bit of golf and spring training baseball. GolfTalk Live proved it last year with a visit to the Clearwater, Florida area. We are back again this year for more of the same.
The site is the amazing Plantation on Crystal River - a golf, spa, recreation and eco-tourism haven about 90 minutes north of the Phillies spring home at Bright House Field.
Director of Golf Jimmie Brothers will be with us as co-host and tour guide at this beautiful and exciting resort. In addition to a wonderfully enjoyable old golf course that is perfect for resort guests, the Plantation offers so much in terms of hiking, kayaking, snorkeling ... and swimming with the manatees.
Our GolfTalk Live Party will be recorded on Friday night at the Tiki Bar, which overlooks the stunning pool complex at the resort. Other hotel representatives will be on hand, as well as Paul Cross, who runs the dive shop and the Swim with the Manatees program.
On the baseball side, we will be checking in with our favorite announcer, Chris Wheeler of the Phillies. Despite a busy spring with the Phillies, he has been able to mix in a bit of golf and will be reporting on both of the favorite activities in the Clearwater area.
Finally, in our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we will be talking with golf professional and LPGA member Meredith Kirk, who is stationed at Blackmoor GC in Myrtle Beach and does work at many other courses in the area for National Golf Management.
GolfTalk Live, Saturday March 9th at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern. Show Aired on Saturday, March 9th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
We are back at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern for the final chance to qualify for the Winter Invitational Tournament of Champions on March 23.
We have a number of interesting guests this week, including the guy charged with growing in the only new course in the area in a few years. Ryan Woodard, the superintendent at Heritage Creek GC in Jamison, Bucks County, will talk about the special challenges of growing in and opening a new golf course in today's economic climate.
Also, in the Equipment Corner, we will hear from Earl Pottorff, the inventor of the revolutionary Pearl Putter. Adjustable drivers are a hot item. Now hear about an adjustable putter.
Golf course architects are not finding much work these days, but Jason Straka - who came through the ranks with Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry --
Has found a way to keep busy.
Finally, big news has hit the Myrtle Beach area this week and we talk about it with Dennis Nicholl, the head professional at the famed Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
GolfTalk Live, Saturday March 2nd recorded at Iberostar Golf Resort & Spa in Cancun Mexico. Show Aired on Saturday, March 2nd from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
With margaritas flowing at poolside, mariachi bands playing in the background and the crash of the surf on the nearby beach, this might be the Happy Hour of all Happy Hour shows ... recorded poolside at the Iberostar in Cancun earlier in the week. The show is part of the Cancun Team Championships hosted by The Golf Connection, based in Royersford.
Tom Jaronski, president of The Golf Connection, explains the pro-am experience. Mariella Gomez, account manager for Iberostar, talks about the many different Iberostar golf resorts and the amenities that exist at these five-star properties. Jeff Breiner, first assistant at Carlisle CC and a veteran of nine Golf Connection pro-am events, talks about the duty of a golf professional to promote the game of golf by taking his members to events such as this. America's Golfing Couple, Danny and Alice Scott, talk about the many golf trips they have been on and how the Iberostar trips rank high on the list.
Finally, we visit with Tidewater general manager Archie Lemon. He talks about the renovations at Tidewater and golf along the northern portion of Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand.
GolfTalk Live, Saturday February 23rd at Play-a-Round Golf, Lancaster Pike in Malvern. Show Aired on Saturday, February 23rd from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
The weather outside has been frigid but it will be a comfortable 70 degrees inside Play-a-Round Golf for another show ... and another 9-hole better ball of partners tournament at our winter headquarters.
In our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we check in with former Philadelphian Bob Seganti, director of golf at True Blue, one of the premier courses along the Waccamaw Golf Trail on the southern end of Myrtle Beach.
Special Alert for the women golfers: we have a very interesting interview with Nell Rose Phillips. She claims to be able to remove the intimidation factor from the game that plagues so many women golfers. The key is her Mental Golf Mastery program.
Old buddy and PGA Professional Bob Sheppard will make a visit to talk about his new book "If They Never Had Invented Golf, They Wouldn't Have Needed the Damn Whisky." It is an entertaining look at the game we love ... and Bob will be available to sign copies of his book.
Finally, Philadelphia Golf Course Superintendent president Jay Parisien will be in the Superintendent's Corner. Just like that other President did earlier in the month, the president of our local chapter of superintendents will give his State of the Industry address and tell us what may be in store during the upcoming season.

If you've ever driven into South Carolina on I-95, you've undoubtedly seen hundreds of South of the Border signs. This week, GolfTalk Live discovers that South of the Border is actually located at 14th St. and the Ocean in Myrtle Beach. That's where the new Banditos Restaurant and Cantina is located. And that's where GolfTalk Live will be at Happy Hour on Friday -- recording the show for airing at regular time on Saturday morning.
Chip Smith, owner of the TPC at Myrtle Beach, will be with us as co-host. His course is the venue for the final round of the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship in August. The world's largest golf tournament will be celebrating its 30th anniversary, so big things are planned.
Also, a number of people associated with the Myrtle Beach Golf scene will get their "One Minute of Fame" in a fast-paced segment designed to be your tour guide to the new season of golf excitement along the Grand Strand.
Finally, we check in with Jay Sigel, who is competing in the ACE Classic at Twin Eagles GC in Naples, Florida this week. A popular stop on the Champions Tour circuit, Sigel came into town early with a contingent from the First Tee of Philadelphia and made quite an impression. He tells all about it.
GolfTalk Live, Special Friday night broadcast from the Philadelphia Golf Show at the Oaks Convention Center in Oaks, PA. Friday, February 8th from 5p.m. to 6 p.m. Show aired at regular time on Saturday, February 9th from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey

In our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, Steve Mays, the director of marketing for National Golf Management, the largest golf management company in Myrtle Beach, will discuss the business and golf climate along the Grand Strand.
For the first time operating as an 18-course entity and promoting Atlantic City as a complete golf destination, the Greater Atlantic City Golf Association will have a major presence at the Philadelphia Golf Show. President Tom Sullivan will drop by our booth for a chat.
Finally, what has become tradition at the Philadelphia Golf Show, we will reserve the final segment for our "One Minute of Fame." Exhibitors from around the Philadelphia Golf Show will get one minute to tell listeners why they should visit their booth this weekend.
GolfTalk Live on Saturday, February 2nd at Play-a-Round Golf in Malvern, PA show aired from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 to 4 p.m. WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
We are back at Play-a-Round Golf for another show ... and another round of play in the GolfTalk Live Winter Invitationals. Right after we finish Saturday's show, we will start stretching and preparing for one of our 9-hole tournaments, with plenty of prizes in the treasure chest ... and one eye on the Tournament of Champions in March.
This week's show, is our first since our return from the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Once again, the annual Super Bowl of the Golf Industry produced plenty of news.
Our Director of Instruction Lou Guzzi was on the scene for the Coaching and Teaching Summit. While there he tried his hand behind the microphone and conducted a very interesting interview with LPGA Tour Player of the Year Stacey Lewis.
One of the favorite features over the last six years of GolfTalk Live has been "Tony's Top Ten" -- a report on the 10 items that caught the eye of our host while navigating the miles of aisles at the PGA Show.
Finally, we begin our three months of Myrtle Beach Reports -- weekly reports from some of your favorite stops (both golf course and otherwise) in the Myrtle Beach area. This week we begin with an interview with Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday president Bill Golden who has some huge news for Philadelphia area golfers about new nonstop daily air service to Myrtle Beach. This info should put a smile on the faces of a lot of golfers.
Play-a-Round Golf's Steve Graves will serve as co-host for the show.
GolfTalk Live on Saturday, January 12th at Play-a-Round Golf, Lancaster Pike in Malvern, PA - Show Aired from 7 to 8 a.m. on Philadelphia's WNTP 990 AM and from 3 to 4 p.m.
This week's show, the last before we head south to the annual PGA Merchandise Show, is a mixed bag. The Pellucid Report came out charting rounds played in 2012 and there were some interesting statistics. We will analyze them.
Also looking back at 2012, people marvel at the relatively seamless way in which we put together 52 weekly shows. Our on-site producer, Eddie "The Kid" Caiazzo, will take a spot behind the microphone to ruin our reputation and tell about some of the "fire drills" that occur when trying to produce a live radio show.
A new book, "Pine Valley Golf Course -- 100 Years of Mystery", is coming out and author Jackie Souders will be aboard to tell about it.
Play-a-Round Golf's Steve Graves will serve as co-host for the show.
GolfTalk Live on Saturday, January 5th at Play-a-Round Golf, Lancaster Pike in Malvern, PA
Happy New Year to all. And what better way to celebrate the start of a new year ... and a new season ... than by playing golf.
A bit too cold for you?
Not at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern -- GolfTalk Live's winter headquarters. Right after we finish Saturday's show, we will start stretching and preparing for one of our 9-hole , with plenty of prizes in the treasure chest ... and one eye on the Tournament of Champions in March.
This week's show will take a look at the start of the PGA Tour season, as the Hyundai Tournament of Champions is being played at Kapalua Resort in Hawaii. Also, we will take our first look ahead to the golf event of 2013 -- the U.S. Open at Merion.
For both of those conversations, we will be welcoming a very special guest to the show -- former PGA Tour star and television analyst Bobby Clampett.
Play-a-Round Golf's Steve Graves will serve as co-host for the show.

GolfTalk Live Special Travel Show "Five Places You May Not Have Considered for a Golf Vacation".
Show aired Saturday November 3rd on both WNTP 990 AM in Greater Philadelphia and WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey.
GolfTalk Live specializes in shows about travel ... but this is a very special travel show. It is titled "Five Places You May Have Not Considered for a Golf Vacation."
Paper and pen are mandatory tools needed during broadcast of this show. You will want to write down the names of some of the courses, plus the websites for future reference.
We will give you recommendations on places to play in North Carolina's Outer Banks, at Turning Stone Resort near Syracuse, in Biloxi on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, in Indonesia and in Mesquite, Nevada. If those five spots don't answer the age-old question: "Can you tell me about someplace different to go for a golf vacation?", than nothing will.
Also, we want to welcome our new sponsor -- First and Goal Sports in the Granite Run Mall. Owner Brad Humphreys and his staff have a complete assortment of sports memorabilia and logo accessories. Plus, he can tell you how to set up a silent auction through him ... and greatly increase the bottom line of your next charity golf outing or event.
Looking ahead to Thursday, November 1, dinner guests at Spamps Restaurant in Conshohocken will be entertained with another GolfTalk Live-sponsored night of music. An Evening of Singing the Classics, with Tony Leodora and Friends will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

This week we are getting down to business...literally. GolfTalk Live attended the Sports in Business Expo at Edgmont CC on Route 3 in Edgemont, PA to catch up with other local sports oriented businesses and individuals.
The feeling in the room was optimistic and no one portrayed that better than Brad Humphreys owner of First & Goal Sports-a successful sports memorabilia store in the Granite Run Mall in Media, PA. Thomas will explain how this product can help athletes in any sport heal in a natural way. This is a segment every athlete should hear.
Appearing at the Expo to speak and share some stories about his career as a golfer was former PGA Tour and Champions Tour player Ed Doughterty. Finally, in our Superintendents Corner we have Jeff Edwards from North Hills CC to chats with us about the spectacular fall weather we have been having and how this has had an effect on golf courses. He also explained what caused a common problem throughout the area during August and September - a turf loss in the rough and first-cut areas.

GolfTalk Live Party: Friday, September 21st at Atlantic City CC in Northfield, New Jersey. Show aired Saturday September 22nd
GolfTalk Live is taking advantage of another spectacular September evening to put on a very special GolfTalk Live Party at Atlantic City CC.
First, one of the best radio shows of the year.
Atlantic City CC director of golf Charles Fahy will serve as co-host, as we celebrate an historic occasion in the region. This week the new 18-course Greater Atlantic City Golf Association was announced, along with a large financial support commitment from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority -- all aimed at boosting golf tourism throughout South Jersey. Fahy is vice-president of the new association and will talk about how this will impact his club and the area.
Also, the newly crowned Ambassador of Golf in Atlantic City -- Ron Jaworski -- will bring his usual brand of enthusiasm to the show. As owner of three courses in the association, Jaworski obviously has a strong interest in what happens to golf in the area. He also is genuinely concerned with the common good.
Tom Sullivan, general manager at McCullough's Emerald Links in Egg Harbor Township, also will be with us. He is president of the new association and will report on how this large merger took place and what he expects from it.
And we haven't forgotten about the rest of the golf world. We will have a report from the Tour Championship and a look ahead to next week's Ryder Cup.
Then, to top off the evening, there will be a special musical presentation -- open to the public -- on the patio at Atlantic City CC. An Evening of Singing the Classics, with Tony Leodora and Friends will take place from 7 to 9 p.m.
GolfTalk Live's host Tony Leodora will entertain by singing some of his favorite songs -- from the classics of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Nat King Cole, to some of those timeless Oldies. The event is open to the public and there is no charge.
GolfTalk Live Party on Thursday, September 13th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Green Valley CC in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania. Show aired Saturday September 15th on both WNTP 990 AM in Greater Philadelphia and WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey from 7am to 8am.
What happens when the Philadelphia Section PGA, the members at Green Valley CC and our friends at Carp Dental get together?
Add a fantastic weather forecast and a great William Flynn-designed course ... and we are probably looking at the best pro-am event of the year in the region.
A good purse will be tempting the top 30 golf professionals on the Philadelphia PGA Points List as they compete in individual and team competition.
We will talk to the sponsor of the event, Dr. Brian Carp, Philadelphia Section PGA president Geoff Surrette, the winning golf professional and a representative from the winning team of amateurs.
Finally, on a day when bets are certain to be flying all over the Green Valley golf course, we talk to writer Jim Ducibella, who has authored a book about the Greatest Golf Bet Ever. Seems like the perfect topic for the day.
GolfTalk Live Party Friday September 7th - Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York.
With the turning of the calendar page to September comes thoughts of fall golf -- the best time of the entire year to play. The courses are in the best shape, the temperatures are cooler and the crowds have thinned.
And that brings us to thoughts of the best places to play fall golf. Turning Stone Resort, just east of Syracuse in Verona, New York, is one of those destinations made for fall golf.
There is a variety of championship golf courses -- Kaluhyat, Shenendoah and Atunyote, which has hosted PGA Tour tournaments. There is also the 9-hole recreational course at Pleasant Knolls and Sandstone Hollow, a 9-hole par 3 course that is not for the feint of heart.
Of course, Turning Stone is also a full-service resort, with two spas, a variety of accommodations, gaming action, first-class entertainment and outstanding restaurants.
With places like the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown about an hour away, Turning Stone makes for the perfect fall golf vacation.
While our mind is still on the spas, we are looking for a few minutes of wellness on the golf course. A.J. Ali, our specialist in the field, will give us some tips on how to stay well -- mentally and physically -- on the golf course.
This show is all about playing well, feeling well and enjoying fall golf.
Saturday, September 1st GolfTalk Live at the final round of the World Amateur Handicap Championship from TPC at Myrtle Beach.
The highlight of the week of the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship is crowning the champion ... and we've been doing it with a very special show from Myrtle Beach for the last 6 years.
Show host Tony Leodora, after an exhausting week of playing in the world's largest golf tournament and walking every inch of the World's Largest 19th Hole each night, puts together a special show crammed with all of the interesting sidelights of the tournament, as well as exclusive interview with the champion.
We will be talking to a number of old friends from the golf industry during the week, as well as a few new friends.
This show is always one of the best -- and fastest-moving -- shows of the year.
Saturday, August 25th GolfTalk Live at Heritage Plantation GC in Longs, South Carolina.
It's time for our annual trip to the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship, played on 60 golf courses throughout the Myrtle Beach area. Show host Tony Leodora will join more than 3,100 of his closest friends to compete in the world's largest golf tournament -- and party at the world's largest 19th hole each evening in the cavernous Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
The first of two shows from the area will take place at the historic Heritage Plantation GC, designed by Dan Maples. After talking about the merits of this course, that has long been a favorite of those who come to the Low Country to play golf, we will talk to some of the players.
Even though the World Am doesn't start until Monday, many of the players are already in town -- and warming up with a Skins Game at Heritage. We will chat with a few, because there are always good stories at the World Am.
And, for those who missed the opportunity to play in this great event, there are still two more incredible golf competitions on the schedule in the near future. And both are being run by Tom Jaronski of The Golf Connection, based in Royersford. Jaronski runs both the Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am in November and the Iberostar Mexico Team Championship Pro-Am and Am-Am in February.
Jaronski will provide the details and drop the names of some of the local pros who are already committed to the event.
Special GolfTalk Live Party Friday, August 17th at Skippack GC in Skippack, Pennsylvania. Bonus Musical Performance: "Singing the Classics" With Tony Leodora and Friends Immediately Following Radio Show. Show aired regular time Saturday, August 18th from 7 to 8 a.m. on both WNTP 990 AM in Greater Philadelphia and WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
A GolfTalk Live radio show, a GolfTalk Live Party and an evening of music with GolfTalk Live's Tony Leodora ... all rolled into one evening. It doesn't get any better than that.
The magnificent patio overlooking Zachariah's Creek at the Farm House Restaurant at Skippack GC is the setting for this perfect summer night of entertainment.
Dinner reservations are recommended by calling Skippack GC at 610-584-5170. After-dinner listening will continue until 11.
Among the singing guests primed for this big night at Skippack is Andy Petruzelli, lead singer for the a cappella group, The Norristones. Aside from recording success, the Norristones have entertained throughout the region with their unique style and a real touch of class.
Petruzelli is also an avid golfer, a member at Blue Bell CC, and one who enjoys traveling the country to play golf -- whether it is with a group of guys or with his wife and other couples. He will relate some of his favorite traveling golf stories.
Speaking of traveling to play golf, we are entering the pro-am golf season -- when golf professionals everywhere enjoy taking groups of amateurs to compete in tournaments that range from smaller local get-togethers to some of the most lavish golf events known to man.
Philadelphia Section PGA executive director Geoff Surrette will tell us about the upcoming pro-am, attached to the Philadelphia Section PGA Championship. He also will talk about the joint effort between the Phillly PGA, The Golf Connection, GolfTalk Live and Inside Golf for pro-ams that will take place in Jamaica in November and Cancun, Mexico in February.
Finally Surrette will be joined by Dr. Brian Carp, an avid golfer and member at both Green Valley CC and Squires. He has sponsored one of the most prestigious pro-ams of the year that will take place at Green Valley on Thursday, September 13. It is the Green Valley Pro-Am Invitational and the top 20 golf professionals in the section (on the points list) will be invited to match with amateurs. Dr. Carp talks about the allure of putting such a high-profile event together.
GolfTalk Live Party Thursday, August 9th from Sand Barrens GC in Swainton, New Jersey Show aired regular time Saturday, August 11th from 7 to 8 a.m. on both WNTP 990 AM in Greater Philadelphia and WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
There is no better place to be in mid-August than the Jersey Shore -- especially when another GolfTalk Live Party is on the schedule -- and the party atmosphere is enhanced by a bit of live music. This one is a very special Thursday evening edition at Sand Barrens GC on Route 9 near Avalon.
The atmosphere will be enhanced by Jamie Ratchford on the acoustic guitar -- maybe we will get him to do a song. And, for the first time ever, we will have a superintendent as our co-host -- Louis Pitcock, who has received accolades for restoring Sand Barrens to tip-top condition.
Sand Barrens, the adventurous 27-hole golf course designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, has been a favorite stop at the Jersey Shore ever since opening in 1997 and debuting in Golfweek's Top 100 Modern Courses. It is definitely not your run-of-the-mill golf course.
By the way, in a bit of breaking news, Hurdzan was just named last week as the latest recipient of the Old Tom Morris award for service to the golf industry. The award is presented annually by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America at their annual convention. That will take place Feb. 6, 2012 in San Diego.
Also, anyone who has visited Sand Barrens knows that the clubhouse is one of the Jersey Shore beauties -- serving wonderful lunches and dinners, as well as excelling in hosting weddings and parties. Director of Food and Beverage Miranda Duca will be on board to discuss the challenges of providing food service at a golf club and why the ones who put together a proper plan are often quite successful.
Finally, with the PGA Championship taking place at Kiawah Island's Ocean Course, there will be plenty of talk about golf's final major championship of the year. And they key to all of this talk will be a conversation with Dave Breslow, the Mental Golf Coach based in Las Vegas. He is the author of the well-known book -- Wired to Win, which has now been transformed into an audio package specifically designed to help golfers.
There are a number of mental coaches out there, but Breslow takes a completely different course -- using 7 Laws that are guaranteed to improve anyone's golf game in 21 days.
Don't miss this segment. It could change your golf game for the better.
GolfTalk Live Saturday, August 4 from 7 to 8 a.m. at Twisted Dune in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Broadcast on both WNTP 990 AM in Greater Philadelphia and WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
There is no better way to start the month of August than with a visit to one of the most spectacular courses at the Jersey Shore -- or, for that matter, in all of New Jersey -- Twisted Dune.
General Manager Scott Dunn has become a regular with GolfTalk Live over the years and he will take his usual spot in the co-host seat. And pardon him if he gloats a bit after the recent news that Twisted Dune has just been named one of the Top Ten Affordable places to play golf in America.
After watching the recent British Open Americans often get the urge to play courses of the style that is often seen across the pond. There is no better example than Twisted Dune, a course that has become a personal favorite of many.
In the Equipment Corner, we attempt to get a grip on things ... with a great line of golf gloves from Wolff Golf Gloves. And these gloves can be customized with logos of a company, a golf club, a sports team ... or anything.
In our final segment, we get one of the best, most comprehensive looks at next week's PGA Championship from the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. Reid Nelson is a longtime golf writer and publicist from the Charleston area. He handled all public relations for Kiawah Island during construction, opening and hosting of the 1991 Ryder Cup at the Ocean Course. He also is an expert on the attractions in and around Charleston -- especially the many outstanding restaurants.
This segment is a must-listen for anyone planning to attend the PGA Championship at Kiawah.
GolfTalk Live Saturday July 28th, at Westover CC for the Montgomery County Amateur Championship from 7 to 8 a.m. on both WNTP 990 AM and on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
It's Championship Weekend and GolfTalk Live is right in the middle of it. The British Open drama started the week, followed by a scorching test of endurance in the Philadelphia Open at Pine Valley on Monday. Now it is the two-day Montgomery County Amateur Championship, with some of the best amateur players in the region vying for the title of best golfer in the best golf county in Pennsylvania.
The Senior and Women's Divisions of the Handicap Championship will start play at Westover CC and that's where we will be -- with head professional Paul Galczyk sitting in as co-host. Galczyk has been in that spot many years and always gives a good perspective on the weekend of competition.
Andrew Mason, now the two-time Philadelphia Open champion, will explain how he overcame the heat and competitive pressure at Pine Valley to win the region's biggest tournament. The amateur from Huntingdon Valley outplayed the best of the pros and amateurs in the area.
In the Superintendent's Corner, Dr. Tony Fidanza of the Penn State School of Agronomy makes his annual visit. He will tell how courses in the area are handling this long run of hot humid weather.
GolfTalk Live Party Friday, July 20 from Sea Oaks GC in Little Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey - Show aired Saturday July 21st at regular time, 7 to 8 a.m. on both WNTP 990 AM and on WOND 1400 AM in South Jersey
Another Party? Well, at least this week there is a good excuse for a party. It is the first time GolfTalk Live will be visiting the distinctive Sea Oaks GC, just off Exit 58 of the Garden State Parkway, north of Atlantic City.
Sea Oaks was designed by renowned Midwest-based architect Ray Hearn and opened in 2000. Since then it has added a 31-room inn-style hotel and one of the finest clubhouses at the Jersey Shore. The course is unique in that it has quite a bit of elevation change for a seashore course.
General Manager/head professional Jeff Bonicky, fresh off a strong showing in the New Jersey State Open (including a 3-under-par 69 in the middle round), will be our co-host. His enthusiasm for the property is evident from the first time you meet him and he serves as the perfect host to first-time visitors, as well as the perfect professional for members.
We talked with another big name from the Jersey Shore, Jim Fraser ... but we talked to him at an event in Philadelphia. The list of new inductees to the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame was announced. On it was three-time U.S. Open champion Johnny McDermott, a family friend of the Frasers. McDermott, the first American to win the U.S. Open and the youngest player ever to win it -- in 1910 -- repeated in 1911, then won his last Open in 1913.
Shortly after that he became mentally ill and spent the rest of his life in mental hospitals. Fraser relates the good and the bad of McDermott's life and praises the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame for honoring him.
Finally, we look to our regular expert during major championship week, Mike Kern of the Daily News, for his analysis of this year's British Open from Royal Lytham and St. Annes.

To wrap up the show, in our equipment corner, we will hear from the official GolfTalk Live equipment experts. From Horsham Family Golf, we have Rick Flagler and from Bridgestone we have Dan Murphy to talk to us about ball fitting..
Saturday, June 30th -- GolfTalk Live from Seaview Resort in Absecon, New Jersey
The excitement may have subsided slightly since the ShopRite LPGA Classic left town earlier in the month, but Seaview Resort and Spa is still buzzing with activity. For one thing, the improvements to the entire property, with new owner Comstock University at the helm, have been widespread.
Head Golf Professional Brian Rashley will be on hand to provide all the latest news about Seaview. We will also have a representative there to talk specifically about renovations and changes to the hotel.
In the Superintendent's Corner, we have a very interesting conversation with Blue Heron Pines superintendent Shawn Reynolds and Blue Heron's new owner Ron Jaworski. Their topic is grass -- fescue grass to be exact. They talk about the good uses of fescue, but also talk about how overuse of the long, wispy grass has hindered play at a lot of courses.

This week, as we continue our stint at the Jersey Shore, we will visit Cape May National GC in Cape May, NJ. Serving as co-host for the morning will be president and co-designer of the course, Bob Mullock.
In the "breaking news" department, the Atlantic City Golf Association is holding a press conference on June 27to announce changes in the Atlantic City golf scene. GolfTalk Live is on the cutting edge of these changes and will provide its listeners with a preview. Joining the show to talk with us about what will be contained in this important announcement will be Dave Weinberg from the Atlantic City Press.
In the following segment Cape May National's Mullock, the longest continuous owner in the South Jersey golf scene, will discuss how things have changed since the days he first opened his course. And what he sees for the future.
Saving the best for last, we close the show with an incredible interview with Ben Crenshaw who visited Hidden Creek GC in Egg Harbor Township last Friday. Crenshaw, along with his partner Bill Coore, designed Hidden Creek, which has been ranked among the best private golf clubs in the United States since its inception.
Crenshaw also takes an amazing look back at 1971 and 1981 U.S. Opens at Merion (he played in both) and 70's participation in the old IVB Classic at Whitemarsh Valley CC. This interview is one of the classics in GolfTalk Live annals.

Saturday, June 9th -- from the GolfTalk Live Invitational Series golf tournament at Blue Heron Pines GC in Cologne, New Jersey
The party gets started early this week -- with a 1:30 shotgun start on Friday, June 8 at Blue Heron Pines for the first GolfTalk Live Invitational qualifier of the year. The round of golf (spots still available) is followed by a cocktail reception and the recording of the radio show -- for airing at regular time on Saturday morning.
There is a loaded list of guests for the show. Blue Heron Pines GM Will Arabea will be on board to tell us what is new at one of the Jersey Shore's best golf courses.
Carl Zimmerman, winner of a spot in the tournament for him and a guest plus a seat behind the microphone on the radio show, will serve as co-host. He has a particularly interesting story to tell, since he lives a few yards away from the entrance to Merion GC, site of next year's U.S. Open.
Speaking of the U.S. Open, our favorite golf writer Mike Kern will be with us again to give us a preview of this year's Open from the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
In the Equipment Corner, we meet again with Tom Olsavsky of TaylorMade. Our equipment guru adds to our U.S. Open preview by taking a look inside the bags of the PGA Tour pros and giving a bit of a crystal ball prediction of what might be the hot club at this year's championship.

Saturday, May 26th -- GolfTalk Live from Embassy Suites Greenville, South Carolina
Week two of our swing through the Carolinas finds the GolfTalk Live team at the Embassy Suites in Greenville, South Carolina. The International Network of Golf Spring Conference is one of those events where the movers and shakers of the golf industry get together to exchange information, network ... and, of course, play a little bit of golf.
The Embassy Suites hotel is the perfect site for a golf conference. Even golf writer Mike Kern couldn't complain ... as long as he was fed a steady stream of southern dishes like pulled pork, shrimp and grits, ribs and fried chicken.
In the Equipment Corner we talked to TaylorMade technical guru Tom Olsavsky about the astounding success of the new RocketBallz 3-wood this year.
In the Superintendents Corner the focus is on Meadowlands CC and superintendent Jim Lynagh. He recently held a mandatory etiquette class for members.
Finally, if it is Memorial Day weekend then we need to take a look at the Jersey Shore. In our Atlantic City Report we visit Ballamor GC and head professional Mike Tucci.
Saturday, May 19th -- GolfTalk Live from Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst North Carolina
Your GolfTalk Live field team is on another major recon mission -- a fact-finding trip to gather important information for show listeners. This time -- with show host Tony Leodora and regular contributor Mike Kern doing the tough and lonely job -- the mission is twofold.
First assignment is to inspect and analyze the recent renovation to famed Pinehurst No. 2 by the architecture team of Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore.
The second is to see how the Pinehurst infrastructure is gearing up for the historic back-to-back Major Championships scheduled for 2014 -- the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women's Open.
Helping with the task will be Caleb Miles, President and CEO of the Pinehurst Area Convention and Visitors Association. So far, he seems to have all of the answers to the many questions involving the dual majors.
From Pinehurst, we will gather comments from a number of parties about the renovation of No. 2.
In our weekly Atlantic City Report we check in with Chris Martin of Atlantic City Golf Vacations. He will tell listeners how to get the best deals on golf in the Greater Atlantic City area for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend ... and beyond.
Finally, in a most interesting Equipment Corner segment, we will talk to Jim Barfield, vice president of Tour operations for Rife Putters. The new Rife Tropical Finish putter was used like a magic wand by Matt Kuchar to win last week's Player's Championship.
Saturday, May 12th -- GolfTalk Live from Split Rock Lodge in Lake Harmony, PA
It must be getting close to summer, if we are making a trip to the Pocono Mountains.

From the national golf scene, we have an interview with Webb Simpson -- fresh from missing a playoff in the Wells Fargo Championship last week by a shot, and deep in preparation for this week's Player's Championship. He is one of the brightest and most engaging young golfers in the game right now.
Saturday, May 5th -- GolfTalk Live Party on Friday, May 4th at Edgmont CC in Edgmont, Pennsylvania
Show Aired 7 to 8 a.m. Saturday, May 5th on WNTP 990-AM
Judging by the number of GolfTalk Live parties we have had at Edgmont CC, you would have to consider it to be the party capital of the golf world. We have lost count of how many GolfTalk Live parties have emanated from the private club on West Chester Pike, be we have enjoyed every one of them.
And so have the members and their guests. They come out early, play a friendly round of golf, enjoy the refreshments, then come in the clubhouse for more refreshments, the radio show, our trivia contest and plenty of great prizes.
On this week's show general manager Pam Mariani will be featured -- along with plenty of old stories about the legendary characters who have called Edgmont CC home.
Also, our favorite jeweler, Nick Giovanangelo from Inside Jewelers, just a bit east on West Chester Pike, will stop by to talk about getting the right gift for Mother's Day and maybe even give us a snack recipe for viewing the Kentucky Derby.
Now that we are in May, our attention turns toward the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City CC director of golf Charles Fahy will be on board with the first of our Atlantic City Golf Reports.

As usual, on the last week of every month, we will visit the Superintendent's Corner and talk to Clark Weld at Hidden Creek in South Jersey. He has quite a story to tell about what a careless golfer did to one of the top courses in America.

Steve Graves will be on board to talk about his new "Play Better Golf Program" ... put together in conjunction with Fit Golf and Master PGA professional John Dunigan.
As part of our Spring "Coming Out" effort, we have a very interesting golf fashion segment with Art Kimbrough, vice president of the high-end shirt company in fiamme. Additional comments on golf fashion will come to us from Plymouth head pro Chris Hanson, Cedarbrook head pro Kerry Mattern and Philadelphia Cricket Club director of golf Jim Smith.
In our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we will be talking to Mike Bucceroni of East Coast Golf Management, a veteran of the Myrtle Beach scene.
Saturday, April 7th -- GolfTalk Live from Barefoot Resort, The Dye Course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
It's Easter weekend. It's Masters weekend. But in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, this weekend is Hootie and the Blowfish weekend.
The incredibly popular homegrown band returns to Myrtle Beach for its annual Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Pro-Am tournament. the festivities begin on Saturday and GolfTalk Live will be on the lookout for any early-arriving celebrities who might feel like talking a bit of golf.
Talking golf is never a problem for Daily News golf writer and regular GolfTalk Live contributor Mike Kern. He will be reporting live from Augusta and the Masters, with updates on who is hot and who is not in this year's Masters field.
In our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we will visit with Barefoot Resort general manager Dave Genevro. He is charged with the dubious distinction of handling the usually massive spring golf crush ... at the same time he is trying to handle Hootie and the Blowfish and their thousands of friends.
Finally, if you get to see Tom Carpus on television this week, it probably means there is a problem on the golf course. Carpus, the head professional at Kennett Square Golf and Country Club. Carpus is an acknowledged expert in the area of golf rules and their interpretations. He held a special clinic for area golf professionals recently and he also brought GolfTalk Live up to speed.
Saturday, March 31st -- GolfTalk Live Special Masters Preview From Myrtle Beach from Ruth's Chris Steak House At Grande Dunes
The PGA Tour may be in Houston this week but all eyes are turned toward Augusta, Georgia for next week's Masters. As if the Masters ever needs additional hype, the return of Tiger Woods to the winner's circle two weeks ago at Bay Hill has captivated the golf world.
At the same time Woods' former teacher Hank Haney has released his new book about his ex-pupil. Although it is not really a kiss-and-tell book, the fact that it offers even a sneak peek at the reclusive Woods is significant.
Speaking of former teachers, another ex-Woods instructor, Butch Harmon, will be on the show. Harmon has been on GolfTalk Live before but he has released a new two-DVD instructional set titled "Butch Harmon About Golf." He should have some interesting observations on the Masters, Tiger Woods and the golf swing.
Also, former British Open champion and 12-time PGA Tour winner Justin Leonard joins us for an interesting interview that contains a not-so-loving look at Augusta, a nostalgic reflection on the Ryder Cup and a wary eye at all of the new young guns. Leonard is one of the good guys -- and good talkers -- on the PGA Tour. This interview is an especially enjoyable one.
Of course, we can't do a show from Ruth's Chris Steak House -- even if it is situated alongside the golf course at Grande Dunes -- without talking a bit about food. Ruth's Chris sales manager Sean Fallan and staff will be on board to whet our appetites.
In our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we will visit with Director of Instruction at Grande Dunes and Top 100 Teacher in America, Brad Redding. Redding spent a number of years teaching in the Philadelphia area, at Hartefeld National GC. We will also have a few comments from Grande Dunes head professional Frank Coughlin.

Before the competition begins, we have a great show this week. Once again Atlantic City will be abuzz with basketball excitement and Fran Dunphy, coach of the nationally ranked Temple Owls will return for his fifth year as our co-host. Obviously, there is even more to talk about with Coach Dunphy, since Temple has announced its move to the Big East Conference.

Also, Daily News golf writer Mike Kern will check in for a quick look at how the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament could affect his golf schedule.
Finally, one of the big stories at the Honda Classic last week was Tiger Woods' final round 62 -- the lowest final round score of his career. For an interesting look at Woods, we talked to his Pro-Am partner that week --automobile mogul Vince Piazza, father of future Baseball Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza.
In our weekly Myrtle Beach Report, we move to the southern end of the area for a report on Litchfield CC and the River Club from head professional Christa Bodensteiner.

It is week two of our special Golf and Baseball Spring Training stint from Innisbrook Resort. The Phillies begin Spring Training games on Saturday, with a standoff against the New York Yankees. What a way to begin the season. Hopefully, the same two teams will be playing each other in the final game of the season.
Phillies announcer Chris Wheeler returns for another week as co-host ... and this time he brings some of his cohorts with him. Prepare for a lot of baseball talk ... and maybe some in-your-face golf talk. Should be interesting.
Also, Innisbrook general manager Lloyd Williams will be back for a look ahead to the PGA Tour's Transitions Championship, which will be played on the famed Copperhead course beginning March 14.
Finally, another edition of the Myrtle Beach Report reunites us with Delaware County native Bob Seganti, who is head professional at True Blue and also runs Caledonia Golf Vacations.
Friday, February 24th, 4:30 to 6:30 pm Special Preview of Phillies Spring Training from Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida -- Show Aired Regular Time on Saturday, February 25th
We can't think of anything better than mixing golf with baseball -- especially Spring Training baseball amidst the warm breezes of Florida. So, for the next two weeks we will be camped at GolfTalk Live's Official spring training site, Innisbrook Resort -- which just happens to be a short drive up Highway 19 from the Phillies Official Spring Training site, Bright House Field.
Phillies announcer Chris Wheeler will be with us as a special co-host this week, as we preview spring training in Clearwater. Innisbrook general manager Lloyd Williams, a frequent guest over the last year, will be back to tell us all that is planned at this massive golf resort this spring.
For a change of pace, we have an interesting interview with Jane Spicer, creator of Daphne's Headcovers -- one of the most creative golf accessory companies in the country. We will also talk to her about her work with Gabriel's Angels, the special therapy dogs that provide comfort to abused children.
And, in the Superintendent's Corner, we will talk about the cooperative effort (hopefully) between a tournament director and a superintendent when the PGA Tour comes to a venue.

For those who stop by the booth, there will be a casino big wheel on display. Golfers are invited to take a free spin and win one of the many great prizes for the weekend.
The show will be a very interesting one. First, we kick off our season-long promotion with Myrtle Beach by talking to Director of Media Chris King, who mentions a number of the interesting events that will take place along the Grand Strand this year.
Then we hold the first of 12 weekly Myrtle Beach Reports. This one is with John Rusher of Brandon Advertising, who explains the allure of the Waccamaw Golf Trail -- a string of 12 outstanding courses in the quieter southern end of the area.
Finally, rekindling a North Coast Golf Show tradition, we will provide a virtual tour of the Expo Center with our "One Minute of Fame." Representatives from at least a dozen of the most interesting booths at the show will line up and give a quick example of what they are all about. It is a fast-paced, entertaining look at the show.
February 4th, Winter Invitational at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

We will talk to Brian Agnew, director of sales and marketing at Mystic Dunes, as well as Rick Smith, the resort's director of golf.

His most famous deals with the life and times of Payne Stewart. Larry will bring us up to date on life in the Greater Orlando area.

Despite the fact that the Philadelphia Eagles have decided to take the year off from the post-season competition, the NFL are in high gear. And what better way to combine them with golf than bring in our favorite Golf Nut and Eagles announcer, Merrill Reese, as co-host for this week.
Merrill will be front and center as we hold another GolfTalk Live Party at Steppy's Sports Bar at Facenda-Whitaker Lanes in East Norriton. Steppy's will be a hot spot throughout the weekend, and throughout the NFL playoffs, so we decided to make it our home for this week also.
Merrill will talk a bit of football, as well as discuss the PGA Tour in Hawaii -- and his plans for golf travel this year. Remember, Merrill has never seen a golf course he didn't like.
Looking ahead to the PGA Merchandise Show, which comes to Orlando at the end of the month, we will talk to industry veteran Rick Martin, who will debut his new upscale line of golf shirts from Martin Golf. His insights on the golf apparel industry are quite interesting.

Finally, in a bit of huge news, we will be announcing our GolfTalk Live Baseball-and-Golf trip to spring training with the Phillies. Lloyd Williams, general manager at Innisbrook Resort, will be on board to spill the details of the best golf trip of the year.
GolfTalk Live January 7th from Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern
In case you hadn't noticed, the weather turned cold this week. That means action will be warming up at Play-a-Round Golf, home site for our GolfTalk Live Winter Invitational Series. Two weeks of winners are already in the books, qualifying to play for fantastic prizes in the Tournament of Champions on Saturday, March 24.
Speaking of winners, this week's show is a real winner. For starters, there is a very interesting interview with our local favorite, Jay Sigel. The great former amateur and current Champions Tour player talks about getting back into action in 2012, after a series of injuries derailed him last year. He hopes to be playing in Champions Tour tournaments in Naples and Boca Raton in February. Also, he chimes in on all of the PGA Tour stars who elected to skip this week's Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. He also gives his thoughts after the two-year run of the AT & T National at his beloved Aronimink GC.
Another old friend joins the show this week, sportscaster Lou Tilley. A new series of endeavors has him hosting and producing a number of television shows on WMCN (Ch. 21 locally) in New Jersey. We will find out if there is any golf programs in his plans.
Since this is the first week of the new year, we are dusting off the old crystal ball and bringing Daily News golf writer Mike Kern onto the show for a look at what golf's headlines might be in 2012.
Finally, we present another edition of the GolfOrlando Report, touting some of the top courses to play in Central Florida. This week we visit Falcon's Fire and Metro West, both managed by Marriott Golf, as we interview general manager Steve Schaller. You may remember Schaller from his days at Seaview Resort in Atlantic City.
GolfTalk Live December 31st - End of Year Producer's Revenge Special
Each year it has become tradition to turn over the last show of the year to weekly producer Joe Harnett. He and his cast of helpers relieve host Tony Leodora of behind-the-microphone duties and review the year. Of course, they are always quick to point out the bloopers of the year -- both on-air and in production. And this year has been a fertile field for them.
Before turning over the microphone, Leodora reviews golf highlights of the year and provides another GolfOrlando Report for those looking to get away to warmer golf climates.
Then he turns the show over to Harnett and on-site producer Eddie "The Kid" Caiazzo for tales of doing live remote broadcasts from many varied places along the Golf Trail.
In another segment, Harnett selects clips from some of his favorite interviews of the year -- with playing legends like Tony Jacklin and business legends like TaylorMade's Mark King.
Finally, Kayla Champagne, who often provides her "Champagne in the Morning" reports, turns the table on our host. Over the years Leodora has sprung his famous "Ten Questions" rapid-fire segments on some famous people -- Jim Furyk, John Daly and Fuzzy Zoeller, to name a few. Now he has to answer Ten Questions, designed specifically for him and the results are both surprising and entertaining.
December 24th at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern, PA
What better way to start the Christmas Holiday than with a round of golf. No, we are not crazy enough to be walking around in freezing cold weather. Instead, we will be holding another round of the GolfTalk Live Winter Invitational Series early on Christmas Eve morning ... so all of our players can get home early and start celebrating the holiday with family and friends.
Our show also will be a special salute to the Superintendents from around the area, who battled so hard to keep our golf courses in fine condition -- despite the awful weather of 2011. A number of them will give us their wishes for 2012. And we hope they get answered.
In addition, one of the superintendents will be with us discussing a hot-button topic -- the city of Austin, Texas wants to ban smoking on golf courses.
Also, Bill Dalton of the Bridgepoint Insurance Group will be with us to discuss issues involving the insuring of golf courses. In a year of violent weather like we have seen, this is a very important topic.
And, of course, we will have our weekly GolfOrlando Report, this one coming from Grande Pines GC, starring director of golf operations Andy Mitchell -- a native of Chambersburg, PA and a Penn State grad.
Party at Black Cat Cigars on Germantown Pike, East Norriton: Friday, December 16
Show on WMTP 990 AM at the regular time of 7 to 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 17th
Santa and his elves have been spotted making an early drop-off ... and it happens to be at our favorite man cave -- Black Cat Cigars on Germantown Pike in East Norriton. He has dropped off lots of goodies for all who attend our Christmas Party this Friday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
We will record the show, hold a trivia contest with prizes, partake in some ice cold Yuengling and sip on some fine wine. Snacks will be provided by Mama Venezia Ristorante in Norristown. And there will be some sample cigars courtesy of Monte Cristo on hand.
As far as the show goes, it comes with a very important warning: Danger!!!
Do not listen if reports from warm, far away, exotic golf destinations will make you jealous, depressed or even violent. We will be talking great golf.
Brian Shipley from Sunshine Services will be with us to talk about the out-of-the-ordinary golf trips he runs to the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
Landy Blank of Costa Rica Golf Adventures, a transplanted local who was once a celebrated football star at Radnor High, will tell us about golf ... and adventure ... in Costa Rica.
Lloyd Williams, general manager of the fabulous Innisbrook Resort in Florida will tell us about the benefits of combining a golf trip with Phillies spring training.
And, of course, we will have our weekly GolfOrlando Report, this one coming from Celebration GC and their vice president of golf operations, Kenny Nairn.
GolfTalk Live Party at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Friday, December 9th
Show aired on WMTP 990 AM at the regular time of 7 to 8 a.m. on Saturday, December 10th
For only the second time in its 5 1/2-year history, the GolfTalk Live radio show is leaving the country -- and it is not because show host Tony Leodora has been deported.
Instead, he is attending the Jamaica Pro-Am Golf Tournament, known as "Annie's Revenge", which will be played on two renowned courses -- The White Witch and Rose Hall. Then Tony will broadcast his weekly radio show from poolside at the fabulous Iberostar Grand Rose Hall Resort from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Of course, the show will air at its normal time -- 7 to 8 a.m. on Saturday.
A total of 28 pro-am teams will be competing in the event and we look forward to interviewing one of the golf professionals who is playing in Jamaica for big prize money. In addition, interviews will take place with some of the people who are integral parts of the outstanding golf industry that exists in Jamaica.
Finally, we will make our weekly visit to the GolfOrlando Report. This week Hawk's Landing at the Marriott World Center is the featured course. Michael Hodgins, director of golf, will be at the microphone.
GolfTalk Live Radio Show In-Studio Saturday, December 3rd
It's time for a quick rest. After a fall that has been non-stop with live remote broadcasts from locations all over the country, we need a rest.
Because GolfTalk Live is headed to Jamaica next week. More about that later.
So, this week's show will originate from the cozy confines of the WNTP studios on Ridge Pike in Lafayette Hill. But there will still be plenty of action.
Our weekly GolfOrlando Report comes will highlight another of the great golf properties in the Greater Orlando area.
Speaking of Orlando, the LPGA Tour is right down the road in Daytona Beach at LPGA International for the toughest tournament of the year -- LPGA Tour Qualifying School. That's five grinding, nerve fraying rounds of golf to get that ever-coveted exemption to the LPGA Tour. We will be talking to Bob Friedman, co-owner of LanConnect, a company in Norristown, Pennsylvania that sponsors Jessica Carafiello, who is attempting to get her tour card. He will try to describe the up-and-down emotions of the week.
Last week we had our first GolfTalk Live Winter Invitational of the season at Play-a-Round Golf, the indoor facility on Lancaster Pike in Malvern. There were some very experienced players competing and some rookies -- and all did very well. Three teams tied at a net 8-under-par 28 for nine holes. One of the semi-veterans was Joe (Jocko) Conlin, PGA Professional from Indian Valley GC in Telford, Pennsylvania. He will give his impressions of indoor golf and assess the accuracy of the simulator golf machines.
Finally, we have an interview with Bob Davis, the owner of Raven's Claw Golf Club in Limerick, Pennsylvania. Over the last seven years Davis has thrown his heart and soul into the project at Raven's Claw -- from trying to open under severe drought and heat conditions, to trying to keep his head above water (literally) during the excessive rains of 2011. He will try to answer the question, "So you want to be a golf course owner, do you?"
Saturday, November 26th GolfTalk Live at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern, PA
It's that time of year again and GolfTalk Live is starting its series of Winter Invitational tournaments in the cozy confines of Play-a-Round Golf, the indoor facility on Lancaster Pike in Malvern. Teams will be competing in a 9-hole better-ball-of-partners event for a cash pot, plus great prizes. In addition, teams that finish in the money automatically qualify for the Tournament of Champions in March.
We will lead off with one of our livelier GolfOrlando Reports. This one is from ChampionsGate, the 36-hole Greg Norman facility near Disney. General manager AlanFindlay's reports are always quite colorful.
As we draw closer to the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando in January, the new year of golf styles begin to emerge. Tiss Dahan, a native Jersey Girl and our resident expert on stylish golf apparel will be on hand to tell us what Adidas has in mind for the new season.
In the Equipment Corner we will hear from a local inventor who has a hot new training aid on the market. Jimmy Rosa from Newtown in Bucks County has brought The Balanced Golfer to the golf world. This balance board creates a stronger, more accurate golf swing -- and what golfer couldn't use one of them.
Finally, in the Superintendent's Corner we get a double dose of expertise as Sunnybrook's Scott Kroll and Bala's Jay Parisien join us to recap the golf season from hell in the Delaware Valley.
GolfTalk Live Radio Show was at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern, PA to commemorate their 5th Birthday. Taped Friday, November 18th, show aired at its normal time on Saturday November 19th, 7am-8am.
There are all kinds of parties ... but this party has a very special cause. Sure, it is the 5th Birthday Party for our friends at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike and Malvern. Steve Graves and company are certain to be in a festive mood.
And to help the mood, their neighbors at Carraba's Italian Grill and our friends at Yuengling Brewery will have treats on hand for the sampling pleasure of those who attend the GolfTalk Live show.
But to start everyone on the right foot for the Thanksgiving season, we are asking all attendees to bring at least one canned good to be collected by the staff at Play-a-Round Golf. The canned item will be your entry into our very special closest to the pin contest. Bring two cans, get two swings at the prizes.
All of the canned goods will be donated to needy local charities. Play-a-Round will be making a major collection on Thanksgiving Day.
First prize for Closest to the Pin includes a Yuengling golf bag, a GolfTalk Live golf shirt, a coupon to Inside Jewelers, a gift certificate from Play-a-Round Golf and a gift certificate from Carraba's. For some, that gift package could solve a year's worth of holiday gift shopping problems. Second prize wins a GolfTalk Live golf shirt and third prize wins a Yuengling golf shirt.
From 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday we will record the GolfTalk Live show for Saturday morning.
With all of the buzz this week about the President's Cup in Australia, we have a very special guest. He is Larry Dornisch, head professional at Muirfield Village GC in Dublin, Ohio -- site of the 2013 President's Cup. Larry was head pro at Sunnybrook GC in Plymouth Meeting, PA 25 years ago but never forgets the Philly area. His interview, and observations of the President's Cup will be a highlight of the show.
Another highlight will be an Equipment Corner interview with Clay Judice, inventor of a product known as the Belly Putt. It is meant to convert standard putters into belly putters. The belly putter is the rage in golf this year and Judice has developed an inexpensive way to allow golfers to experiment with a belly putter.
Finally, with Thanksgiving right around the corner, we had to call in the Official Gastronome of GolfTalk Live -- Nicky G. Known in his real life as Nick Giovanangelo, proprietor of Inside Jewelers on West Chester Pike in Broomall, Nick is a key for the holiday golfer. First, he can provide any home with a few treats for the holiday table ... Second, he can provide a golfer with a treat that might pave the road to that coveted golf trip later in the year. Nick's motto is "baubles lead to birdies."
November 12th, GolfTalk Live Radio Show from The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida
For the second straight year, five four-man teams from the Philadelphia area are invading one of the most exclusive and spectacular private golf clubs in America -- The Concession Golf Club -- to challenge the home team in an event called The Concession Challenge. Last year the home team won the challenge but three new challengers have joined the two runner-up teams from last year in an effort to capture the trophy.
On Saturday morning, as the teams fortify themselves before the final two nine-hole matches, GolfTalk Live will broadcast live from the dining room. The event also will be shot for a future Inside Golf television show and host Harry Donahue will be with us as radio co-host.
Bruce Cassidy Sr., the man behind the grand plan for The Concession Golf Club, will be a guest in the first segment. Even though Concession is a relatively new club, Cassidy has affected major improvements every year. Maybe he will give us a look at what is in store for the future.
The concept behind The Concession Golf Club was to commemorate the famous Ryder Cup that ended in an historical touch of sportsmanship between captains Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin. The two again collaborated on the design at Concession and Jacklin will be on hand personally to talk about the club.
Also, we will get a chance to speak with the captains of the challenging teams -- Cedarbrook, Blue Bell, Squires, North Hills and Whitemarsh Valley.
GolfTalk Live Party Friday, September 30th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Plymouth CC in Plymouth Meeting, PA Broadcast Airs 7 to 8 a.m. Saturday, October 1
It's party time again -- and this time the GolfTalk Live Party comes to Plymouth CC, the venerable William Flynn design in Plymouth Meeting, for a special occasion. The members at Plymouth CC are kicking off the buildup to their 100th anniversaryn 2012 with a special day of golf for members and guests, followed by the GolfTalk Live radio show, a special dinner and a trivia contest with plenty of prizes.
Plymouth president Bill Hirst will be on board to serve as co-host, as well as talk about many of the special events that are being planned to build up to the 100th anniversary. Head professional Chris Hanson will bring us up to date on the competitions planned at Plymouth, including next weekend's Big 5 Invitational.
If you have been listening to GolfTalk Live regularly for the last three months, you have heard about my personal struggle with the "yips" and what I did to cure the dreaded malady. Now people can meet the "cure" in person, as Hypnotherapist Bryan Toder will make a live appearance at Plymouth CC and go over the final results of the grand experiment on the air. Be prepared for a very interesting "session."
And, since we are curing the maladies of golf, why not address the dreaded slice. It is the most common problem in golf, especially for the beginner or novice golfer. Now, a noted golf instructor had written a book that specifically addresses the problem. Brian Crowell, head golf profession at GlenArbor GC in Bedford Hills, New York, has written "Slice-Free Golf." He will give away some, but not all, of his secrets during an interview. For the complete cure, you have to buy his book.
September 17th from Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana for a Special Show “The Beauty and Allure of Golf Travel”
The part of golf, that sets it apart from every other sport, is that if you have to travel a long distance to play the sport, the experience gets better.
Growing up, if you had to travel more than a few blocks to find that pickup basketball game, or go more than a few miles to play baseball on a nice field, it was a major inconvenience. But, in golf, we actually look for different, far-off locations to play the game – and enjoy a different experience.
Our headquarters to discuss this phenomenon this week is Swan Lake Resort, amidst the bucolic farmland of Plymouth, Indiana. Director of Marketing Andy Mears will be our co-host and Director of Instruction Bruce Rearick will be a guest during one segment.
Why Plymouth, Indiana? It really doesn’t matter – as long as there is a great golf course and a fine resort.
But Plymouth, Indiana happens to be only a half-hour south of South Bend, Indiana – where the 45th anniversary of one of college football’s most famous games is taking place.
In 1966 Notre Dame and Michigan State played to a historic 10-10 tie that eventually led to Notre Dame winning the national championship.
Notre Dame All-Americans have always been a special group and a few of them are staying at Swan Lake. Linebackers John Pergine and Mike McGill are joined by former All-American free safety Tom Schoen and have been seen prowling the grounds at Swan Lake Resort. Pergine will tell what it’s like, mixing golf with a football trip.
To help us focus more on travel, we will talk to one of the leading authorities on travel in the world – Gordon Dalgleish, top man at Perry Golf, the upscale travel company.
Also, we will check in with old friend Jeff Hamilton of GolfPac Travel in Orlando. He may have some very exciting news about golf travel to Orlando.
September 10th from Edgmont CC for a special GolfTalk Live Party and the recording of the show on Friday at Happy Hour – 5:30 to 7:30.
If Edgmont CC is not the most patriotic country club in the Greater Philadelphia area, it is very close to it. Management and members are always chipping in to support the troops and this week is another example.
A tournament is being held on Friday to support the Delaware County Veterans Memorial. A 1 p.m. shotgun will be followed by our GolfTalk Live Party and a dinner. General Manager Pam Mariani will explain Edgmont’s role supporting this event … and many other charity events at Edgmont.
Guy Fizzano, president of the Delaware County Veterans Board will talk about the Veterans Memorial – on a significant weekend, as America prepares to reflect on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack that took down the Twin Towers in New York.
Johan Immelman, son of 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman, will talk about the new Golf 9/12 effort that takes place across the country on Monday. A South African, who has transplanted to Charlotte, is CEO of the Golf 9/12 initiative.
And speaking of veterans, our favorite Vietnam Veteran Ed Dougherty will make a visit to talk about all that is going on over the weekend.
September 3rd Final round of Golf.com World Amateur Handicap from TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrels Inlet, SC
After a week of competition by more than 3,100 golfers up and down the Grand Strand of Myrtle Beach, the 66 flight winners will converge on the TPC course to determine the World Amateur Handicap Champion.
GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora has been competing in the tournament all week, sending back daily blog stories about his own trials and tribulation. He will now bring the other stories with a number of interviews gathered at the nightly 19th Hole gathering. One of those interviews will be with the inimitable David Fehrety, whose new show on the Golf Channel is a huge hit.
Of course, he will have an on-the-spot interview with the winner of tournament. There is always an interesting story attached to that winner.
GolfTalk Live August 20th from Harbor Pines GC in Egg Harbor Township, NJ
It’s party time at the Jersey Shore again. Director of Golf Vince Geraci and the entire staff at Harbor Pines have rolled out the red carpet. There is a special golf event with special prices on Friday afternoon followed by another one of our famous GolfTalk live parties. Special guests for the show will include one of Philadelphia’s favorite former broadcasters Jim “Sports” Kelly and Champions Tour legend Jay Sigel.
GolfTalk Live August 13th from Twisted Dune in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey
We’re back at the Jersey Shore in mid-August. Isn’t everyone?
The casinos will be packed … and so is Memories in Margate, Charlie’s in Somers Point, the Ocean Drive in Sea Isle, the Princeton Grille in Avalon, the Windrift in Stone Harbor and Flip Flops in North Wildwood.
Where else can you go and be sure to see your next-door neighbor … who you haven’t seen for six weeks at home?
Of course, we will be checking out the golf courses and this week we visit one of the most different, and one of the most liked, courses in all of South Jersey. The address may say Egg Harbor Township but the landscape looks like it is right out of Scotland.
Head professional Scott Dunn will sit in as co-host for the morning and tell us why his course has become one of the most popular stops at the Jersey Shore.
We return for another session with hypnotherapist Bryan Toder. No, no danger of the listeners getting hypnotized while they listen but our host Tony Leodora has undergone hypnotherapy to cure his putting yips and he will give another account of how the treatment has been working.
With all of the junior golf activity lately (the Harry Hammond Invitational, the Montgomery County Junior Championships, the AJGA Invitational at Huntingdon Valley), it sounded like a good idea to talk to Mahlon Dow, the head professional at Mattawang GC in Bellemeade, New Jersey. He was recently voted one of the Top 50 Kids Teachers by U.S. Kids Golf.
Finally, we combine the Equipment Corner and Healthy Golfer segments with a visit with Dave Ostrow, lead physical therapist from Body Balance for Performance. He has the inside track on the new Aline insoles that are taking the golf world by storm because of their ability to improve stability and performance.
August 6th at Westover CC in Jeffersonville, PA for the Montgomery County Amateur Championship
It’s Championship Weekend in Montgomery County – the golfingest county in Pennsylvania – and GolfTalk Live will be part of it.
While the Championship Divisions are doing battle at nearby Raven’s Claw GC in the first day of the 36-hole tournament, the Handicap Divisions will be playing at Westover CC. The winners of the Handicap Divisions, also playing two days, will then compete in a putt-off to play in the 2012 Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship in Myrtle Beach.
Amidst all of the excitement, the radio show will kick off the tournament and Westover’s head professional Paul Galczyk will serve as co-host. Westover has been hosting flights of this championship since it started, 10 years ago, as well as hosting the Celebration of Golf Festival that serves as the closing ceremonies on Sunday night.
Speaking of tournaments, Tom Jaronski and his Golf Connection company set up tournaments all over the world from his office in Royersford. Jaronski will be with us to talk about some of his exotic, and not-so-exotic, tournaments, plus give us an idea on what is happening on the tournament scene in other parts of the world.
In one of the most riveting interviews of the year, GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora caught TaylorMade Adidas Golf CEO Mark King during a recent visit to New York City. One of the top movers and shakers in the world of golf, King talked about everything from recent trends in equipment and apparel, to why his company continues to thrive, while many other companies have suffered.
GolfTalk Live July 30th Live Remote from Seaview Spa and Resort in Absecon, New Jersey
We’ve all seen the Seaview Resort and Spa, when it hosts the ShopRite LPGA Classic each year. The women of the LPGA Tour play the famed Bay Course, then coo about spending a week at the Jersey Shore. It is undoubtedly one of their favorite stops each year.
Now, GolfTalk Live gets a chance to do the same thing.
Director of Golf Kevin DeDonato will spend the morning in the co-host chair – commenting on a myriad of topics, including the newest improvements to both the Pines Course and the Bay Course.
There also will be plenty of discussion about the famous hotel and resort, ever since ownership passed on to Stockton University.
And, since we were at the Jersey Shore, we had a bit of a State of the Industry report from Roger Hansen – who started the upscale daily fee golf movement in South Jersey when he built Blue Heron Pines GC, then moved to the private sector with the heralded Hidden Creek GC.
Finally, Jon Schulz will be with us to discuss hole locations. A fine amateur golfer and accomplished engineer, Schulz combined his love of golf with his engineering talent to invent a pin placement software that guarantees every round of golf will never be the same. He will be featured in our monthly Superintendent’s Corner.
GolfTalk Live July 23rd from Vineyard Golf at Renault Winery in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey
Life is too short to drink bad wine.
With those words of wisdom in mind, we take this week’s live remote show to an amazing combination of golf, luxury, culinary excellence and winemaking history – in South Jersey – Vineyard Golf at Renault Winery.
Since this is a golf show, we must first pay homage to the outstanding Ed Shearon-designed golf course that many people call the “best kept secret in South Jersey.” If we have anything to do with it, we hope it will no longer be a secret. Vineyard Golf is an absolute pleasure to play. The holes unfold like well-connected chapters of a great novel – with nary a house in sight.
And, what makes this property so special is that after golf there is more to do on this property than anything this side of DisneyWorld. There is the historic winery, with tours that will both entertain and inform. There is a gourmet restaurant in the winery that rivals the finest in the East. There is the Tuscany House Hotel, that looks like it came right out of the hills of Northern Italy. And there is Joseph’s Restaurant, with an authentic taste of the finest Italian classical cooking.
To top it off, every week there are events and entertainment at Renault Winery and the Tuscany House Hotel – with an amazing array of variety.
Saturday night they are presenting “Sounds of the Opera” in the winery ballroom. Opera singers will give their rendition of famous arias from different operas, and the music is paired with a gourmet five-course meal.
Director of Marketing Kevin McCarty will be our co-host for the radio show, and give us a tour of the Vineyard golf course. General Manager Paul Verdi will be a guest during an extended segment where he will tell us more about all there is to do, besides play golf, at Renault Winery.
With the British Open still inspiring fond memories, we bring back one of our favorite experts – short game guru Dave Pelz. His pupil, Phil Michelson, put on a scintillating front nine charge on the final day at Royal St. Georges, before falling into a tie for second place. Dave will expound on Phil’s wild ride, as well as talk about his upcoming Short Game Clinics at Wyncote GC – August 27 through August 30. Spots are still available. Check them out at www.pelzgolf.com.
Finally, in an attempt to show the classier side of GolfTalk Live we will give a dramatic presentation in the last segment of the show that is certain to be talked about for years to come. Show host Tony Leodora, regular guest Kayla Champagne and WNTP producer Joe Harnett collaborated on this effort.
GolfTalk Live July 16 live remote from The Links at Brigantine Beach in Brigantine, New Jersey
With the British Open occupying the attention of the golf world this week, it seems fitting to bring you GolfTalk Live from one of the few, true links golf courses in America – the Links at Brigantine.
The early morning breeze is sure to be blowing, the well-conditioned course lies in wait for the golfers and the quirky style will test the imagination of all. It doesn’t matter whether we are talking at Royal St. Georges in Great Britain or the Links at Brigantine. All of the aforementioned qualities apply.
Doing the talking on this Saturday morning from the Jersey Shore will be Brian Wiegand, Brigantine’s head professional. He will bring us up to date on course conditions, as well as alert us to some of the many specials that make the Links at Brigantine one of the best values in South Jersey.
Of course, it wouldn’t be British Open weekend without a little help from the official gastronome of GolfTalk Live – Nicky G. Usually known as Nick Giovanangelo, proprietor of Inside Jewelers on West Chester Pike in Broomall, we drag him out of the jewelry store and throw him into the kitchen whenever the British Open is being contested.
This week he came up with a wonderful brunch for all who are leisurely watching Sunday morning at the British Open – asparagus and eggs; fresh figs wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with goat cheese; and a perfectly chilled bottle of Prosecco. Don’t let the bubbles go to your head. Get the full recipes by going to our Blog.
Those who are aware enough will notice a number of familiar names not playing in the British Open this week. The injury list is a long one and, as usual, many players are sidelined by bad backs. They might not be sidelined if they were seeing our expert physical therapist – Dave Ostrow of Body Balance for Performance in Conshohocken.
Ostrow explains that modern physical therapy techniques attack the core of the problem and get rid of what is causing all the pain. He even had a few good words of advice for Phillies third baseman, Placido Polanco, who has been sidelined with a bulging disc in his back.
Finally, we have a nice talk scheduled with a man who spent many years at the British Open – former Washington Post golf writer Len Shapiro. In semi-retirement, Len is involved in a number of ventures – his latest being a new book, co-written with Ed Sherman – Golf List Mania! This book is the ultimate fun read – whether you have hours to peruse the assembled lists while lounging on the beach … or a few minutes in the bathroom. This should be a good conversation.
GolfTalk Live Party Friday July 8th at Blue Harbor Pines GC Cologne, New Jersey
The parties just keep coming and this week’s GolfTalk Live Party is a very special one from Blue Heron Pines GC. That’s because it includes GOLF.
That’s right, Blue Heron Pines general manager Will Arabea has put together a special afternoon of golf and coupled it with a great barbecue dinner. The timing is perfect – shotgun start for golf at 3 p.m., with the GolfTalk Live Party starting at 7 p.m. and the radio show starting at 7:30.
Of course, the party will conclude with one of our special GolfTalk Live trivia contests … and plenty of prizes. And all of this comes for an amazing price of $70. Call Blue Heron Pines pro shop at 609-965-1800 to reserve your spot.
One of the special guests on the show, taking an afternoon off from his usual spot behind the microphone, is Bob Holder … a.k.a. “The Mouth of the Lehigh Valley.” Holder is host of the popular “After Further Review” sports talk show on the Fox affiliates in Allentown and Harrisburg. Get ready for some of his brash predictions … like the one he made back in January that Tiger Woods would never win another golf tournament. So far, he’s right.
And for anyone who wants to make changes to the layout after playing Blue Heron Pines, course architect Stephen Kay will stop in for a visit. It’s doubtful that any changes will be made, as Blue Heron Pines has been winning awards ever since it open back in the ‘90s.
Finally, don’t miss the show’s final interview segment, if you have ever had the Yips. Hypnotherapist Bryan Toder will be with us to talk about the ongoing personal experiment with GolfTalk Live host Tony Leodora, who contracted the dreaded golf disease back in the spring. Still in the first stages of treatment, there has been immediate improvement and the story behind this entire mind-over-matter process is fascinating.
Saturday, July 2nd, GolfTalk Live from Meadowlands CC in Blue Bell
The idea is to start the 4th of July Weekend off with a bang … and that’s exactly what they are doing at Meadowlands CC in Blue Bell. This event for Meadowlands members and guests is called the Independence Day BBQ and Fireworks and it takes place on Friday, July 1. There will be a water slide, moon bounce, electronic football, face painters and jugglers for the kids. Add a DJ for the kids of all ages. And, of course, there will be the traditional barbecue – followed by fireworks that the entire community can enjoy.
GolfTalk Live will be there for this special GolfTalk Live Party – complete with trivia contest and prizes – recording the show and airing it on Saturday morning at the usual time.
Part of the show will be telling the amazing story of Meadowlands – a private equity club that has added 92 new members this year – in a year when so many private clubs throughout the Philadelphia area are seeing declining membership numbers and facing fiscal disaster. Club president Gilbert Benjamin, board member Earl Rochvarg and general manager Ira Berkowitz will be on board to tell the Meadowlands story of growth and also its continuing efforts with Armed Forces Appreciation Day.
While we are on the theme of parties, we will visit with old friend Gary Shea, who runs a company called Golf and Gamble. He books packages and runs events both at the Jersey Show and in the Pocono Mountains. His next event holds special interest – because it is the Mount Airy Casino Resort Playboy Scramble on July 17 and 18. The Sunday night party and Monday golf tournament at Mount Airy feature two Playboy Playmates and more than 30 Girls of Playboy Golf. This is one event where the old golf axiom “keep your eye on the ball” does not apply.
Finally, the PGA Tour is in town at Aronimink GC for the AT & T National Championship. We will check in live with Daily News golf writer Mike Kern for an up-to-the-minute report.
Saturday, May 28th at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida
After a grueling week of attending the workshops, seminars and meetings of the International Network of Golf Conference that was held at Innisbrook Resort – and playing the Top 100 Copperhead Course and the renowned Island Course – it is time to wrap up all that we learned in one show. This could be one of the busiest shows we have had in quite a while, so listen intently as we zip through this fast-paced show.
Once again, our favorite golf writer Mike Kern of the Daily News will be with us as co-host. To complete our orientation of Innisbrook and the surrounding area we will have two special guests. The first is Rodney Green, the director of golf at Innisbrook. He will tell us about upcoming opportunities for our listeners at the resort. Then, Mary Haban, public relations director for Clearwater/St. Pete, will tell us about special opportunities for visitors to the area – including Phillies spring training.
From the recently concluded ING Conference comes a very special guest, Todd Lewis, Golf Channel anchor/reporter. He will provide his views on a number of hot-button issues in the world of golf.
In an extended Equipment Corner, we will have two equipment interviews. The first is from Tom Olsavsky, the senior director of product development at TaylorMade. He reports on the progress of the “White Phenomena ” that TaylorMade started. Their white drivers and white putters have been the rage of the industry. The second report comes from Larry Edlin, vice president for the Bionic Golf Glove. He reports on advances this glove has made toward taking over the market.
In our monthly Superintendent’s Corner we visit with Trenton Country Club’s Tom Tuttle. For the second month in a row we focus on the topic of drainage – but this time we are talking about drainage on the greens, and systems that can be implemented to help old push-up greens.
Finally, this week’s broadcast again will be part of a GolfTalk Live Party on the patio at the Osprey Clubhouse in Innisbrook. We will have another of our famous Trivia Contest – with prizes that include Bionic gloves, Razor golf hats and one lucky person will win a Razor Mutation fairway wood.
Special GolfTalk Live Party at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida - Friday, May 20th Aired Saturday, May 21st
Golf’s movers and shakers from every facet of the industry will be converging on Palm Harbor, Florida – just north of Clearwater – for the 21st annual International Network of Golf Spring Conference. The beautiful Innisbrook Resort and Spa is the site for all conference activities (including golf) and GolfTalk Live will be at the center of the action.
Sitting in the co-host seat for this week’s show – and next week’s wrapup of the conference show, also from Innisbrook – is our favorite golf writer, Mike Kern. A regular contributor to the show, Kern always brings his unabashed viewpoint on anything related to golf.
Lloyd Williams, general manager of the Innisbrook Resort and host for the ING Conference, will be along to give us some of the inside stories about this storied collection of four golf courses, amazing amenities and a varied assortment of accommodations. Hosting of the PGA Tour’s Transitions Championship in March has been a chief duty of Williams and the events increasing popularity among the players is testimony to the quality of the resort.
Mike Vandiver, vice president of Razor Golf, will be on hand. His company makes a fine assortment of golf equipment – available on line – and is based nearby Innisbrook. He is well-connected throughout the golf industry as well as the entertainment industry and always has some interesting stories. Of course, he will also be talking about his new Mutation fairway woods, which have started to grab attention throughout the industry.
Finally, we have a great interview with one of Philadelphia’s favorite professional golfers – Ed Dougherty. The Delaware County native has been missing from the Champions Tour lately due to a few physical ailments, but his insight is always welcome. And, he remembers well his days of playing at Innisbrook in the old J.C. Penney Classic that matched a PGA Tour player with an LPGA player in a better-ball competition.
Saturday, May 14th, GolfTalk Live is at Shawnee Inn and Resort - Shawnee-on-Delaware, PA.
Spring has finally arrived in the Pocono Mountains. Up until a few weeks ago, there was still snow in parts of the mountains. But now warm sunshine has the mountains popping with their annual splendor … and there is no place that radiates more beauty at this time of the year than Shawnee Inn and Resort.
The historic Inn and Resort is celebrating its 100th anniversary in a big way. Owner Charlie Kirkwood has spared no expense in refurbishing the hotel and improving conditions on the golf course. Activities of just about every imaginable variety are planned at Shawnee this year.
Of course, our favorite activity is golf and A.W. Tillinghast’s first golf course design, situated on an island in the middle of the Delaware River, is special. The only flat golf course in the Pocono Mountains, it is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Delaware Water Gap.
Joining us for the day, as our co-host, will be Carl Wilgus, the executive director of the Pocono Mountains Vacation Bureau. He will provide insight into what the golf season holds for the entire region.
Our friends at Inside Golf, the award-winning weekly television show on Comcast SportsNet, have been busy running around the Pocono Mountains in preparation for a six-week series of shows. Colleen Wolfe, who helps host Harry Donahue with his weekly on-camera duties, will give us a preview of this fascinating series that will highlight mountain golf.
And, speaking of previews, we have the first of a few previews for this year’s U.S. Open at Congressional CC in Maryland. The grand old course was closed for the last year as architect Rees Jones did his second extensive renovation of the original Devereux Emmet layout. As always, Jones provides a behind-the-scenes look at what will face the best golfers in the world during mid-June.
GolfTalk Live Party at Body Balance for Performance, with broadcast on Saturday, April 23rd
GolfTalk Live has wrapped up and is ready to deliver to its listeners and area golfers the biggest, brightest, boldest Easter/Passover present ever. No, it isn’t a huge Easter egg. It is an entire “Healthy Golfer” show – dedicated to making you a healthier, better golfer in 2011.
The popular Healthy Golfer segments that can be found regularly on the GolfTalk Live show have been expanded to an hour crammed with healthy tips for golfers.
Host site for the show is Body Balance for Performance, the golf-specific physical therapy and training facility in Conshohocken. David Ostrow, lead therapist, will be on hand to give his take on how Body Balance can make anyone a healthier and better golfer.
Joe (Jocko) Conlin, PGA Professional from Indian Valley CC, will be on hand to give his own personal testimonial of how Body Balance returned him to competitive golf after years of battling a bad back.
Maura Manzo, nutritionist from Ryah Yoga and Nutrition, will be on hand to tell us what to eat before, during and after our rounds of golf.
Dr. Veronica Collings, a chiropractor and wellness physician based in Plymouth Meeting, will give her personal tale of raising a top-level golfer – two-time Montgomery County Amateur Champion and former No. 1 player for Temple University Logan Terry. Her co-mingling of golf and a healthy lifestyle will be a great benefit to all in attendance.
Dr. David Zelouf, renowned orthopedic surgeon for the Philadelphia Hand Center, will speak about how golf injuries have gravitated away from the typical back problem and now are evidenced more in injuries of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. And he will explain why.
Finally, former Penn State and New York Jets running back Blair Thomas and his partner, Dave Ritting, will be on hand to demonstrate their Emmortal Magnesium Therapy product – EMT. Used by the Philadelphia Eagles and athletes in every sport, it is the easiest, most convenient and healthiest long-term product for handling minor golf injuries.
There will be plenty of snacks on site, as well as plenty of beer courtesy of Yuengling Brewery.
Only a few last-minutes spaces remain. There is no cost for this very important night of health and golf. Register by calling Body Balance at 610-940-3835.
Saturday, April 9th - Special Preview of Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters - Dye Course, Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
GolfTalk Live has been attending a lot of parties lately, but there is no party that compares to the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday after the Masters Pro-Am and Concert. For one thing, the party runs for three solid days. In addition, it is held at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – the golf party capitol of America.
Once again we will start all of the festivities by doing our show live from the grand porch in front of the Dye Course clubhouse at Barefoot Resort. Head professional Jeff Diehl will be with us once again to tell us all that is new on all of the Barefoot Courses – the Dye Course, the Love Course, the Fazio Course and the Norman Course. Barefoot general manager Dave Genevro also will be with us again to run down the list of activities for the weekend. They include the welcome party on Saturday, the Masters viewing party on Sunday, the Pro-Am on Monday and the fabulous Hootie concert on Monday night.
A lucky local foursome will be attending all of the festivities – plus playing golf every day and staying in luxury at Barefoot Resort – thanks to their high bid in the Montgomery County Amateur Championship Silent Auction last year. They are Phil Cavalcante, Stan Huskey, Joe Shemar and Jimmy Atkins.
While Myrtle Beach is party central for the weekend, Augusta commands the attention of the golf world. Our favorite golf writer, and regular contributor to GolfTalk Live, Mike Kern will check in with a live report.
While Mike will be spending the week dining (?) on Augusta’s infamous pimento cheese sandwiches, GolfTalk Live’s resident gastronome Nicky G will tell you how to dine in style while watching the final round of the Masters. Augusta may be famous for its pork barbecue but that fare doesn’t fly at the home of Nick Giovanangelo, also known as our jewelry consultant from Inside Jewelers on West Chester Pike in Broomall. Nicky G will be making Roast Pork Italiano, also known as Porchetta, and you can catch his recipe by going to the GolfTalk Live Blog
April 2nd GolfTalk Live Party at MaGerks Pub, Fort Washington, PA
It’s party time again … and at this party you get two sports for the price of one. As always, there will be plenty of golf on hand. But, recognizing we are in the heat of March Madness, GolfTalk Live has prepared a special Final Four Preview Show at one of the top sports bars in the area – MaGerk’s Pub in Fort Washington.
Adding to the basketball atmosphere will be our special co-host for the show, former Philadelphia 76er and Boston Celtic guard Gerald Henderson. He can talk golf almost as well as he can talk basketball. Henderson finished runnerup in the Senior Division of the Montgomery County Amateur Championship in 2008.
Helping him with basketball reaction to this wildest of ever Final Four weekends will be some special guests. The back-and-forth conversation between golf and basketball should be pretty interesting.
Of course, with the turning of the calendar page to April, we look forward to April. Tiss Dahan, senior director of global apparel for Adidas, will be on hand to discuss what fashion statements we can expect at this year’s Masters. Dahan, originally a Jersey Girl, always has some interesting slants on what the guys will be wearing as they walk around Augusta National.
From a bit of a different perspective, our host for the night at MaGerk’s – Jon Dollaway – will talk a little bit about the economic effect events like Final Four weekend and the Masters have on local businesses like his.
Finally, we will talk to Michael Abrahms from Pine Lakes International in our weekly Myrtle Beach Report. His course, also known as the Grandaddy because of its stature as the oldest course in Myrtle Beach, underwent a major renovation a couple of years ago and emerged as one of the “don’t miss” stops along the Grand Strand.
Saturday, March 19th from Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern, PA
We are back at Play-a-Round Golf on Lancaster Pike in Malvern for our final time this season (which means spring must be near). Aside from another exciting radio show, all the buzz is about the GolfTalk Live Winter Invitational Series, which comes to a blazing climax with the Tournament of Champions. All of the teams that finished in the money during the regular season are invited to compete for the overall title – and big prizes.
We have golf bags from Yuengling, gift certificates from Wilson, sunglasses from Sunbuster, hybrids from Razor Golf, some great golf books and our always popular GolfTalk Live golf apparel.
On the show we have a number of interesting guests – including Dr. Gary Wiren, noted golf instructor who has started to gain more notoriety for his amazing collection of golf memorabilia.
Also, the PGA Tour of late has looked like a white-out – with white drivers and white putters carrying players to a number of recent victories. The white equipment is the new development by TaylorMade Golf and vice president of product development Dean Snell will be with us to explain the latest technology trend.
And for those early season golfers who are feeling a few aches and pains, we have the perfect solution – Emmortal Magnesium Therapy. It used to be called “POP, Power Over Pain.” Now it has a new name, new packaging and new ways to life-giving magnesium back into your system. Area representatives Dave Ritting and Blair Thomas (yes, the famous Penn State running back) will be on hand to explain how this amazing product works.
The PGA Tour is playing at one of our favorite spots – Innisbrook Resort, just north of Clearwater, Florida. The famous Copperhead course is the venue at this resort that boasts 72 quality holes of golf. Florida correspondent Jamie McWilliams will be on hand to provide analysis.
And we have a new addition to the show – bringing us our golf results from around the world. Get ready for a little “Champagne in the Morning.” Kayla Champagne, who also will be on hand to host our upcoming GolfTalk Live parties, will bring us all of the results.
Finally, of course we will bring you our weekly Myrtle Beach Report – this time with Steve Lee from the Legends Group. The Legends complex not only has 54 holes of golf, but it has great accommodations, a very active sports bar/clubhouse and a lighted driving range for the much needed extra practice.
Live Remote was Wednesday, February 2nd from Innisbrook Resort Clearwater, Florida - broadcast on WNTP Saturday, February 5th at 7am
GolfTalk Live’s swing through Florida continues, as we bask in the warmth of the Florida sunshine … and bask in the glow of winning the award as America’s Best Golf Radio Show.
To recap the PGA Merchandise Show and look ahead to Phillies spring training (pitcher and catchers report on Feb. 14), we have taken up residence at one of the great golf resorts in the country – Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club. This 900-acre pristine parcel of natural beauty is just up the road from the Phillies Florida home, BrightHouse Field. We are doing the show live, during another GolfTalk Live Party, hosted by Yuengling, from the Osprey Clubhouse at Innisbrook. There will be a trivia contest and plenty of prizes from 5 to 7 p.m. The show will be recorded and will air at the regular time on Saturday.
Providing the hospitality – and an insider’s look at the home of the PGA Tour’s Transitions Championship – will be Innisbrook general manager Lloyd Williams.
Providing the baseball expertise and setting the stage for what should be an incredible season in Clearwater and Philadelphia will be Phillies announcer Chris Wheeler. He will be live at the GolfTalk Live Party. Wheels will be joined via telephone by his sidekick, Gary Matthews.
As promised, we will once again wrap up the PGA Merchandise show with the popular feature – Tony’s Top Ten. A quick look at ten eye-catching items from the Show will be provided. Also, we will hear from GolfTalk Live’s Director of Instruction Lou Guzzi will recap his induction into the Top 100 Golf Instructors in America.
Finally, we begin a three-month feature that is always a listener favorite – the Myrtle Beach Report. For 13 weeks we will feature a different golf course each week, giving insider’s tips and telling about all of the new developments along the Grand Strand. First up is Drexel Hill native Bob Seganti, the head professional at True Blue.
We appreciate your interest, your patience and thank you for listening every Saturday Morning from 7am to 8am on WNTP 990 on your AM "dial".
